Help Our Queer Household Stay Safe and Stable

Donation protected
We are a shared, queer, leftist house made up of trans, neurodivergent, and otherwise marginalized people building a home together in Eugene, Oregon. Our household includes Ember, Astrid, Mauri, Olivia, and Rachel. We have come together from across the country to support one another and create a safe, affirming space grounded in community care and collective survival. So far, we’ve supported moves from Minnesota, Arizona, and Texas.

We’re asking for help to recover from those costs, support the final stages of Olivia and Rachel’s relocations, and furnish our home with what we need to thrive.

Total Fundraising Goal: $4,250
1. Household Costs Already Covered by Ember
Olivia’s remaining last month's rent: $275
Rachel’s deposit and last month’s rent: $900
Shared furnishing costs fronted by Ember: $300

2. Immediate Household Needs
Sofa for shared living space: $200
Beds for Olivia and Rachel: $400 (need met)
Rachel’s road bicycle for transportation: $400

3. Travel and Recovery Expenses
Amtrak travel for Olivia from Arizona: $237
Amtrak travel for Rachel from Texas: $275
Cost for Rachel to replace items she could not bring: $400
Cost for Olivia to replace items she could not bring: $300
Rachel’s return flight to pick up her cat Zoey: $400
Airline pet fee for Zoey: $125

Final Total of All Expenses:
$1,475 (Ember reimbursement)
$1,525 (household needs)
$1,212 (travel and recovery)
= $4,212

Rounded fundraising goal: $4,250
Minus $1,000 in cash gifts, $400 for beds

How You Can Help:
If you are not a fan of GoFundMe, Ember is able to accept donations or physical items directly. If you would rather give furniture, housewares, or other supplies, we are happy to coordinate that too. We are doing this fundraising as a household, not as isolated individuals, because our survival depends on collective care and mutual support.

Meet Our Household
We are only including bios for the household members most impacted by this current need. However, Mauri and Astrid are also broke students doing their best to survive, and all five of us appreciate your care and support.

Ember: Ember is a trans and neurodivergent full-time student who works part-time and has fronted most of the house’s initial costs. They are deeply committed to mutual aid and building safe, affirming spaces for trans people in transition, both geographically and emotionally. They handle much of the house’s logistics and infrastructure.

Olivia: Olivia is a trans, neurodivergent young person who relocated from Arizona three months ago. She arrived with very few possessions and is still working to retrieve or replace the rest. Olivia is passionate about mental health, mutual aid, and building queer family. She is currently navigating chronic illness and looking for safe and sustainable work. Having a bed, a furnished home, and her belongings would make a huge difference in her healing and stability.

Rachel: Rachel is a mid-30s Jewish trans woman relocating from Texas. She has experience in customer service and is a folk musician who looks forward to exploring Eugene’s music scene. Rachel is bringing her beloved cat, Zoey, with her and is working to make sure both of them have what they need for a smooth transition. She also needs a reliable bicycle so she can get around the city and pursue work once she’s settled. Much of what she owned could not come with her, so she will also be rebuilding from scratch.

Every contribution helps us stabilize and build a life together. If you are able to give money or goods directly, please reach out to Ember (or, whoever sent you this fundraiser, Ember is usually not very hard to find...). If you cannot give financially, sharing this post helps more than you know.
