Repairing a Home for God’s Glory

Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
My wife Pam and I have been led and allowed by The Lord to purchase a small second family home, a fixer upper, to help out our oldest son Christian, who is a recovering drug user, so that he can have a safe place to come home to. (Our home is small, and we have three remaining children at home who are still minors.) God has worked on our hearts and given us the radical idea to "prepare a place for him" as a way to show him God's love. We want him to see that God's ways are higher than our ways, Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. We want him to feel the love of Jesus Christ, and understand that God does things for us which we do not deserve, nor can we earn. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  We want him to know that God has plans for his life, and that all things are possible with God for those that love Him.  We also want Christian to see how our awesome and faithful GOD answers prayer!

Some background:
When Christian was 18 he had a bright future with a scholarship to Syracuse University to study music education. He was soon kicked out after getting into drugs and failing to complete required course work. After that he was convicted of felony marijuana possession, and placed on probation. At 26 years old he remained hard hearted and violated the probation. The judge saw potential in Christian, and allowed him the option to participate in a program called Shock Incarceration - a six month sentence in a Boot Camp style rehab program for non violent first time offenders, (one of only a few remaining in the USA. )  Christian's former employer has promised that he will let him come back to work upon release, because he is a hard worker. He will be on strict parole when released, and we will also have rules for living in the new home, which is in our name, and will be an extension of our own Christian household.

The Project:
The home is a small but cute ranch from the late 50's, which is in dire need of much TLC, but has TONS of potential! We are doing this by faith, not by sight, 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) and we believe that God will continue to provide the means necessary to complete the renovations, especially to repair the bathroom, which basically need to be gutted down to the studs and rebuilt. This is where we will need a Contractor to do the things which we are not trained in. The kitchen is the second worst room, as far as needed repairs, but we plan to do a lot of "DIY" labor to refinish the cabinets, remove wallpaper, and paint! The kitchen also needs new flooring, again we will need the experts install a basic laminate flooring here. The rest of the home has beautiful hardwood floors which we will scrub, clean and shine ourselves! The home also needs a new Electrical panel and service to make it safer and "up to codes." Our goal is to have it done before he is released on November 15th, 2018. We are doing most of the work ourselves, as a family project, and other family members have already contributed paint and some furniture, which we are using thankfully. (Thank you Grandma, Aunts and Uncles!) We have had new windows installed, and have cleaned and painted the two bedrooms. The funds we raise here will all be applied to the bathroom, kitchen, and electrical repairs/upgrades. Of course, our main concern is for Christian's soul to be saved! At this point we have faith that God is drawing Christian, as he is reading the Bible daily, and looking forward to living a sober life in his new home. From a recent letter we received from him; "I can't begin to express how grateful I am for all of the hard work and effort you guys are putting in to provide me with a place to live when I come home." Please donate to help us to complete this act of love, in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ, and please join us in praying that God will use this testimony of God's undeserving love to soften Christian's heart, and that he will be born again, so that he will have a home with us in heaven! John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Thank you to all who prayerfully consider donating to this family ministry project! Praise God!! Psalm 54:6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
