<div>First, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story. Whether you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep our family in your prayers, your kindness means more than words can express. Our uncle, Sammy, has been diagnosed with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease that attacks the brain. Living in a small pueblo in Mexico, it took nearly three weeks before he was finally diagnosed correctly by a neurologist. During that time, he was treated for the wrong condition while his health continued to worsen. Today, he is in critical condition, fighting for his life.

<div>Our mom, Cristy, has always been the one holding everyone together. She came to the United States to build a better life for her four children, but she has never stopped caring for the family she left behind in Mexico. She works tirelessly every single day just to make ends meet and help support them, yet she still can’t be by her brother’s side when he needs her most.

<div>As her four children, it breaks our hearts to see her carrying so much pain on her own. We created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of Sammy’s medical care and give our mom one less thing to worry about during this incredibly difficult time.

<div>Antes que nada, queremos agradecerles de todo corazón por tomarse el tiempo de leer nuestra historia. Ya sea con una donación, compartiendo esta campaña o simplemente manteniéndonos en sus oraciones, su apoyo significa más de lo que las palabras pueden expresar. Nuestro tío, Sammy, fue diagnosticado con encefalitis por receptores anti-NMDA, una enfermedad autoinmune muy rara y potencialmente mortal que ataca el cerebro. Como vivimos en un pequeño pueblo de México, pasaron casi tres semanas antes de que pudiera recibir el diagnóstico correcto por parte de un neurólogo. Durante ese tiempo fue tratado por una condición equivocada mientras su estado de salud empeoraba día tras día. Hoy se encuentra en estado crítico, luchando por su vida.

<div>Nuestra mamá, Cristy, siempre ha sido el pilar de nuestra familia. Emigró a Estados Unidos con la esperanza de construir un mejor futuro para sus cuatro hijos, pero nunca dejó de apoyar a la familia que quedó en México. Trabaja incansablemente todos los días para salir adelante y ayudar a quienes más ama, aunque eso signifique no poder estar al lado de su hermano en este momento tan difícil.
