Daniel Castro works tirelessly for the children who attend UCLA Lab School. Please consider doing what you can to help Daniel Castro and his family through the next few months, whether it's bringing a meal, making a grocery run, or donating through this GoFundMe.
Back when we could go to school, I would see Daniel every day at carpool, in the halls, in the office. He was always working, always around to help. Daniel always made sure that everything was in order so that our children had a safe environment in which to learn.
Daniel has Lupus, a debilitating auto-immune disease in addition to severe pulmonary hypertension, which makes it very difficult for him to breathe and it makes his heart have to work even harder.
Last week Daniel was hospitalized for a week. Daniel has since been released and is at home recovering with his family, however he still has a long road ahead before he is well enough to go back to work.
Daniel is married and lives with his wife Gladys, and their two sons, Jacob (class of 2009) and Ezra (class of 2017). Daniel is now the sole provider for the family due to his wife and older son being laid off because of COVID-19.
Daniel is facing these incredible challenges, with courage, bravery, and vulnerability, with new medications, paying mounting bills, home-schooling his youngest child, and trying to stay safe in this time of COVID, of which Daniel is among those in the highest risk category.
This is a challenging time for all of us, but it's also a time when, more than ever, we need to look out for each other. Can we rally together to help Daniel and his family during their time of need?
