Unfortunately, Julia has become ill with a very life-threatening disorder. I say disorder because doctors have not been able to specifically figure out why her body is shutting down.
It all started with a headache and sore throat, that turned into the flu, to blood in the urine, and then after blood tests immediately to the ICU for a Catheter to be placed in the neck for blood transfusions. They had discovered her blood platelets were near depleted. An average person has 150, she had 23, and within three days and two blood infusions later, 14 (down to 10 is when the brain starts to bleed).

So, they diagnose her with TTP, something 40+ year olds get(not 18 year olds) and literally turns your blood cells against your body.  Her plasma was purple and her surgical incisions wouldn't stop bleeding to the point of having to get multiple stitches to close them back up.

Four days, three transfusions later and things still didn't look better. Tests finally came back and she was negative for TTP. So she was flown off to Portland to the specialist where she is currently. They still have no idea what is wrong with her. Her last transfusion did bring up her platelets to 63, now the Drs are observing to see what is going on.

We are just looking for help so when she is able to finally get back on her feet she won't be swept off them with the back debt of missing work. Anything would help.

Julia is an amazing ambitious young woman who is self-sufficient and is doing her very best to achieve all her own set goals. This whole sickness came out of nowhere and completely set her life back.

Whatever you can do, our family would be forever grateful.

I just want to say thank you so much to those who have helped out with this so far. Our family appreciates it so much. We are currently waiting on the results of Julia’s blood analysis to see if what she has is in fact atypical HUS.
Unfortunately, Julia will be needing to stay in the hospital for treatments and is unable to work. Her family is pulling together as much as we can to help. Her parents have taken time off of work to be with her and support her through this difficult time. Julia has been working since she was 14 years old and she is having a hard time knowing she won’t be able to support herself. Something no 18-year-old should have to worry about while fighting for their life. We are unsure what her medical expenses are going to amount up to and unfortunately she is not offered sick pay through her current place of employment.

Thank you for everything again. Her family appreciates everything! I’m extending the limit for her needs for further unforeseen medical expenses.
