Joy's Journey: Fighting Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Hello! We are Analilia and Esther. We have made this GoFundMe page in support of our sister, Joy Saffa and her daughter Katey.
This chapter of Joy and Katey's story began in late June of this year after Joy discovered a breast lump. After a whirlwind of testing, scans, and surgeries, and in less than a month and a half, Joy and Katey's happy, peaceful life was torn apart with the news that Joy has not only one, but two types of Breast Cancers; Ductal/Lobular Breast Cancer. Worse of all was when they were told that she was already at Stage 4 and incurable! Her cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and from there to the T10 of her spine. To say this has caused shock and devastation for our family is an understatement! Especially, of course, for Joy and Katey.
Joy has been a single mom to 16-year-old Katey since birth. They are inseparable. The love and respect that they have for one another is nothing short of absolutely beautiful and inspiring. Joy has made raising her daughter her very first priority in her life and she has done an amazing job doing it. Both Joy and Katie are two of the kindest, happy, respectful people you could ever meet. As many know and have experienced, raising a child as a single parent can be financially difficult.
Joy is no exception to that but she has been able to manage financially until now. Although, at this point, Joy's cancer is incurable, she may be able to live for many years and can be attainable only with the expertise care of her medical cancer team and the best treatments available to prevent her cancer from spreading further. Having cancer is extremely expensive for anyone, but for a single mom, the costs involved can be impossible!
Joy and Katey live in a rural area in Oklahoma, several states away from their family. She must travel four hours, round trip, several times a week, to receive cancer treatments and as the saying goes... "When it rains it pours"!... Joy's vehicle has seen its last trip and is now no longer usable. On top of the stress, worry, and fear Joy and Katey have with her cancer, they are now struggling to find transportation to get to Joy's cancer center for treatments as well as to other appointments. Just to find transportation to the pharmacy to pick up much needed medication or a store for food and other household needs, is causing much more stress than they should have to endure. The cost of medical care, cancer treatments, and for travel is much more than she or her family can handle.
We are reaching out to you through this GoFundMe page to ask for desperately needed donations to help Joy and Katey. Funds that are donated here will go directly towards Joy's medical and medication costs, transportation costs, and will help with basic living costs for Joy and Katey as they journey through this massive storm that has overtaken their lives.
