In the spring of 2020, our team began to work on the application to be a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam. In October, we found out we received a grant to invent a device that addresses injustices in policing through the invention of an integrated system aimed at collecting and protecting motion, video, and audio data of civilian and police interactions during traffic stops. We will work collaboratively throughout this school year to invent this device and will ultimately travel to MIT to present our invention at EurekaFest, an invention showcase on MIT Campus in June.
While we have received a $10,000 grant from the Lemelson-MIT Program, the program does not fund our travel. The primary purpose of this GoFundMe account is to fund our 15 member team and chaperones travel to MIT to present our invention. In the event that our team is unable to travel due to continued travel restrictions, the funds that have been raised will be split evenly amongst InvenTeam members in the form of a scholarship to their chosen institution.
