<div>This morning, a dog was found tied to a park bench in Franz Siegel Park in the Bronx. She had a shock collar around her neck and an empty bowl beside her. She was left there overnight—first spotted around 6:30am—alone, scared, and abandoned.

<div>We’re calling her Jeter for intake—found near Yankee Stadium—but her forever name will be chosen by the person who steps up to foster her.

<div>At first, we thought she might be pregnant. She’s not. Her belly is distended from severe malnourishment and neglect. She is in rough shape. Cuts and sores cover her body. Her ears are so poorly cropped that she’ll need sedation just to fully assess the damage and further treatments. She has a deep ligature wound on her front left ankle—from being tied with wire or cord for a long time—it has cut deep into her skin.

<div>She’s about 3 years old. 44 lbs. And she has clearly been used for breeding. She CAN be in another home with dogs, she has shown no signs of reactivity and she isn’t a very fast moving girl .

<div>This is a cycle we see far too often: used for profit, neglected, and dumped when no longer “useful.” It’s evil - cruelty in its purest form—and it must end.
