HELP SUPPORT OUR LOCAL WCS DANCE SCENES

Our local regular West Coast Swing events are normally our lifeblood for dance and they are an incredibly important in our lives.

The fantastic, hardworking people who run these dances every week, along with their teams/volunteers/teachers, labor weekly and monthly to provide a space for us to grow, connect, and have fun.

Lets show them some love, and support them while they have to remain shut down during this COVID-19 pandemic and make sure they can keep running their dances for us in the future!

All proceeds collected will be divided between the 7 dances based on the frequency of their dances and a check will be issued to each dance organizer(s) at the end of the fundraiser.

Monday:
 WCS MONDAYS at Rendezvous

The dance in Rockville, MD offers lessons & dancing every week! Very Basic 7:30-8:30, Advanced Basics 7:30-8:15, Intermediate 8:15-9:00, Int/Adv Practica 8:30-9:30 and a Dance Party 9:00-11:30! A supportive environment mutually beneficial for everyone who comes to participate.

BOOGIE IN BETHESDA

Over 20 years of West Coast Swing group dance instruction followed by a friendly and welcoming fun social dance party in Bethesda, Md. NO PARTNER NEEDED here! This is a very supportive multi skill leveled dance community that is very Beginner welcoming and friendly. We were all Beginners once ourselves!"

7:00 pm - Doors open with warm up music 7:10 pm - Tips & Tricks to better your dancing (all levels) 7:30 pm - Basic West Coast Swing lesson 8:00 pm Intermediate West Coast Swing lesson
8:30 pm - 11:00 pm - Open dancing to a mix of your favorite tunes. Beginners are always welcome & you don't need a partner! We rotate often during the dance lessons. Only $15 per person or $10 for Students with your Student ID.
Light refreshments & snacks included. First Sunday of every month there is also a Country and Swing Dance at Colvin Run!

MINISTRY OF SWING

Welcome to MofS! Baltimore’s local Westie scene where you can learn the dance and meet some wonderfully friendly and welcoming people. When the world isn’t topsy turvy, we run weekly progressive classes every Wednesday, where content is focused on developing technique that will allow you to truly embrace, enjoy and connect with this dance. MofS is an LGBTQ+ and Student Choice studio. Everyone is welcome – welcome to come as they are, to dance the role(s) that speaks to them and discover their own creative self through dance. Come learn, discover, and create with us. The first Saturday night of every month a MoS dance is held! Come check us out at our new studio.

WEST COAST SWING AT TYSONS BALLROOM

Our WCS Dance is held at Tysons Ballroom On Thursday nights starting with a 8PM beginner lesson, 8:30PM intermediate lesson along with a beginner review lesson and another section of the room, and finishing with a Dance party/social from 9:15-11PM
The cost is $15 for the whole night or $10 for the dance only after 10pm. Discount rate of $8 for students 15-23(w/ID) and $5 for ages 7-14.
First Thursday of the month is free for new people coming to our dance .

FRIDAYS AT HOLLYWOOD BALLROOM

Friday's weekly WCS classes and dancing with Dave, Casey, Debbie and the Dance Jam fam have been DC area's largest, weekly WCS social event bringing 200+ dancers together weekly for nearly 2 decades in Silver Spring, MD. We are hopeful this team and the Hollywood Ballroom will survive to reopen later this year when social dancing is safe again. 2 levels of workshops are included with the cover charge. 7:30pm Beginner Basics lesson with Dave Moldover, Debbie Tuttle & Kiona Leah. This class runs as a progressive series beginning the 1st Friday of each month. Everyone is welcome. Brand new students should join on the 1st Friday of the month. 8:15pm Intermediate lesson. 9pm-1am Dancing with host Dave Moldover & Guest DJs.
$15 cover includes lessons, dancing, serious snack & dessert buffet and non alcohol drinks. Beer & Wine for sale at the bar. Student Speciel = $8 for full time students under 21 with ID.

COLVIN RUN

Fourth Saturday Hustle/West Coast Swing Night is held the fourth Saturday of each month, with Joyce Szili as guest instructor, teaching Hustle. Music mix is 50/50 West Coast Swing and Hustle, with about 80% or more "west coastable." DJ'd by Ed Cottrell. Ed and Gail also host the Third Sunday Dance on the third Sunday of each month, with a music mix DJ'd by Ed Cottrell.  The Tuesday Night Dance for Everyone, with a music mix that includes west coast swing, east coast swing, and ballroom; and the Second Saturday Dance for Everyone.

SWOUK DC- WEST COAST SWING AND ZOUK

Washington, DC is lucky to have a large and vibrant West Coast Swing (WCS) community that offers several weekly classes, socials and annual events. As the Brazilian Zouk scene in Washington, DC and nationally has been growing, there has been growing interest from dancers in the zouk and WCS communities in crossing over and fusing the styles. In October 2016, Helen Chao (a local WCS dancer) and Ashley Kent (a local zouk instructor) got together and organized a local swouk party at Glen Echo Park with a support team of District Zouk and several local WCS dancers. Ever since this first successful event, the group have been organizing monthly swouk parties, often bringing in international and champion-leveled zouk and WCS artists and instructors.
