Help Our Black Trans Sisters Live Their Truths

Donation protected
We believe in contributing to a world where everyone can live in their truth without fear.

In 2019 at least 26 transgender or gender non conforming people were murdered, 91% of these people being black. For this and many other reasons we are asking for donations to help select black women in the trans community, as well as the incredible foundation For the Gworls. This foundation assists black trans women by offering funding for gender affirming surgeries, as well as rent assistance. Our goal is to raise $20,000 by August 31st to help these amazing women in need.  We would be incredibly grateful if you could join us in contributing to creating a world that allows us all to live in our truths, with love, acceptance, and equality by donating to this cause.

In addition we would like to share few heartfelt words from The Co-founder of this campaign, Avalisa Gallo:

"As a Black Trans Woman, I live every day with the knowledge that I exist within multiple intersections. I face the societal disadvantages of being black. I face the societal disadvantages of being a woman. I face the societal disadvantages of being queer. I face the societal disadvantages of being trans. Existing despite all of these societal disadvantages creates a sense of gratitude for every opportunity I receive, even if they are unappreciated basic necessities for others. I also receive a sense of gratitude for every day I am alive because many of my sisters have been murdered without justice for being Black Trans Women.

Although the realities of dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia at the same time are extremely disheartening, I HAVE PRIDE. I spent the majority of my life playing a role for the benefit of other people and am finally living in my truth. I am finally me and there is freedom in being true to yourself despite the opinions of society."

Here are some words about the financial struggles of being trans.

"To be cisgender (insides match the outsides) in America requires no medical assistant. Everyone has their own unique health journey, be it physical and/or mental. Trans people have their own health journeys as well, but in addition to that, there is a great deal of medical assistance required for trans people who follow the binary of transitioning to male or female. Transition related therapy is expensive. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is expensive. Gender Affirming Surgeries are expensive. Male to female Gender Reassignment Surgery is $30,000+ in the United States. Many people work their entire lives to afford this necessary surgery and with unemployment rates being quadrupled for Black Trans Women, many insurances not covering the surgery, and the new law that allows private insurance companies to deny or drop trans people, it is near impossible. Transition is not elective for transgender people who follow the binary and neither are Gender Affirming Surgeries."
