Help Oquirrh West Project commission art

Donation protected
We are a professional Contemporary Dance Project, based in the Salt Lake City area. We have 1 artistic director and 6 company members. Oquirrh West Project celebrates and supports artistic evolution, collaboration, and virtuosity in dance. OW Project is committed to pushing boundaries while offering a stimulating setting to develop, explore, create, and educate. As we pursue such principles, we seek to promote conversation with the human condition and the healing of social plights, thus sparking reflection and change for ourselves and those who interact with us. We are dedicated individuals looking to enhance and grow the dance community in Salt Lake; this includes providing opportunity for local and national choreographers as well as artistic growth and development for our dancers. Our outreach to the community also brings us great fulfillment with the mission to increase arts access and creativity as well as educate and enlighten others of the power of art. Currently, we are working towards bridging the gap between post-training and entry into the professional artistic world through our apprentice program. We worked really hard last year amidst the pandemic to raise the required funding to commission our artists. But ultimately we have still come up short and would be so grateful for your support to make up the difference. The pandemic has limited the performing arts, and it has been a challenge we face. While we provide as many opportunities as possible, and have done as much as we can to obtain the financial support we need, we cannot continue without the generosity of you, our community and donors.

The funding we receive will go toward costs required to cover venue costs, commission choreographers, photographers, videographers, directors, light designers, the dancers and other talented collaborating artists. It will also enable us to continue our endeavor to enrich our surrounding community. During this time of uncertainty and finding a new way of living, we feel the work we are doing is more important than ever. We believe in the value art has to shed light on the human condition, causing us to contemplate, personally reflect, and improve ourselves and the people around us. Live movement art is a sacred experience that makes us feel in a way that can't be generated by anything else. It has a way of peacefully illuminating issues, feelings, and other societal problems which we hope to refine. We thrive on the collaboration between local and national artists who can accomplish such culture, providing jobs that offer a valuable platform for human growth. We aspire to promote conversation between artists of all genres as we work to improve our condition and connect with each other through our creative processes.

This year we are bringing in the incredibly talented and brilliant artist and choreographer, Brendan Duggan to imagine and create a new immersive dance experience for the general public to attend and observe movement in a holistic experience. We are looking to raise at least $35,000 before March 20, 2022. Your monetary contributions are needed to help us make this immersive capstone experience of our current season a reality.

We are new, fresh and eager. We will continue to grow and evolve while finding additional ways to serve the public and dance community in Utah. We have big goals for this beautiful company in the years to come. Your support in helping us provide opportunities would mean a great deal on our journey as a young non-profit organization, and allow us the chance to improve the artistic world with a different voice and space for artists to share their brilliance. We cannot continue without the support and generosity of those who believe in our vision and the things we aim to accomplish. Thank you for taking a moment to jump on board and envision with us a space where changing and connecting minds, bodies, and souls is ever on the forefront of our exploration.
