Hi, my name is Lily and we are from San Antonio, Texas. Our sweet dachshund, Oliver, became a part of our family in February 2022. He is a very active boy and is an essential part of our family. We love him like there is no tomorrow. He is now 3 years old and has been the happiest and goodest boy any family could ask for.

This morning (February 10th, 2025), we woke up like any other day but Oliver would not come out of his crate, which is very unusual for him. I helped him out and noticed that he did not attempt to walk and just stayed in a sitting position. I immediately knew something was off and called my husband to help me out. We decided to take him to an emergency vet who informed us that he has limited use of his back legs and is mostly paralyzed. This very much took all of us by surprise as there was no trauma or mechanism of injury. He was his normal self walking and running around the night before and just woke up like this. They recommended an MRI of his spine and a referral to a specialist which amounts to about $4,000. They also informed us that spinal surgery is needed (which costs between $9,000-$11,000) with a 60%-80% chance of walking again.

This sudden news is truly devastating as he has so much life he has yet to live. We are asking if anyone would like to help contribute any little thing towards his medical expenses.
