Help offshore lobsterman

Chris Hodgkins is a 31 year old from a small island off the coast of Maine. He is self employed as a lobster fisherman as well as town selectmen. He is an independent, young, hard working man who prides himself on a job well done. Chris always lends a helping hand to anyone who needs the help. Chris is an important part of this small community. We want to help him any way we can!

Chris began having medical complications at age 26 due to unexplained blood clots. It has been a life changing ordeal. The past five years his health has gone up and down and doctors have not been able to diagnose the exact reasons for the clotting and other complications. The blood clots have disrupted proper circulation to his lower extremities. Other complications to his treatment are allergies to common blood thinning medications and damage to his liver. Chris has been hospitalized in the ICU several times in the past 5 years as doctors have tried to stabilized his condition. Due to an umbilical hernia, Chris has not been able to work since January. The most recent medical incident was the end of October. Chris was rushed off Frenchboro by a lobster boat and taken to the emergency room. He was admitted to the ICU and put into a medical comma and put on a ventilator while doctors tried to figure out how to stabilize him. Chris is still in the hospital at this time in Boston, Massachusetts. He is stable and is not in a medical comma nor on a ventilator anymore. He is currently undergoing a liver transplant evaluation. Doctors are trying to get him healthy enough to release him from the hospital so he can get home to his dog, Clover.

Chris has accrued a huge amount of medical expenses due to initially not having medical insurance. We are starting this go fund me page to help cover his medical costs and cost of living expenses due to the fact that he is not able to currently work.
