Help Officer Jerry Flores and his family

Donation protected
I would like to start out by saying my name is Hope Flores. I am a mother and wife of a Law Enforcement Officer. My husband Officer Jerry Flores has been in Law Enforcement a little under ten years in total but has been with the Mascotte Police for almost 7 years. On Saturday 12/28/19 at around 3am, he was involved in a terrible accident. His car rolled several times and he was ejected from his patrol vehicle. While my husband lay there hurt and unconscious, two bystanders of the accident decided to do the unthinkable and not call for help but begin to look through the wreckage and steal his belonging (story link included below).

I received a knock at the door that no Leo wife ever wants to get. I was told of the accident and that I should wake my two little boys, ages 4 and 8 and head over to Orlando Regional about 50 miles from where the accident occurred. When I arrived he was still being attended to so I was unable to see him. I was told that Jerry had sustained multiple injuries from the ejection and accident itself. He has a broken pelvis, broken sternum, fractured ribs, fractures in his spinal cord, several cuts and abrasions to face and upper body, a concussion, and multiple injuries to his right knee.

On 12/29/19 at 8am he went into surgery to have internal pins placed in this pelvic bone to stabilize it as well as an external fixater to keep it in place. He will have to wear this until his pelvic bones fuse back together. He also had a brace placed on his right leg that he will have to wear 24/7 until his pelvis is healed and they can place rods in his knee to properly stabilize and heal those injuries. In addition he has to wear a full neck and chest brace to stabilize his spinal fractures while they heal and is unable to bare any weight on his legs or feet at all until healed. So he will need multiple pieces of equipment when he is able to return home to us.

On 12/31/19 he was moved up to rehabilitation to begin his long recovery and healing process. Since here, he has surpassed where others might have failed and fought harder than anyone I know to make sure he can get home to myself and our boys as quickly and safetly as possible.

The community of Mascotte and surrounding areas have really rallied behind us in this time of need and provided our family with several meals, cards, and words of hope and prayers for recovery and we could not put into words the appreciation we feel for all the people of Mascotte as well as the Police and other departments.

However, Officer Jerry Flores is looking at a long road to recovery but should be able to return to work within 6-8 months. We are proud people and would not ask for financial donations unless we were absolutely certain that we will need it. He is at a hospital 45 minutes away from our home and the expenses are adding up. Anything that anyone can do to assist our family during his recovery would help.

If you have taken the time to read this I appreciate your time.
