About Domingo Reyes

Domingo is a United States Marine Veteran and a 20-year veteran law enforcement officer. This is the first time in his law enforcement career he has needed to be out for medical reasons and ask for any assistance. Domingo is an incredible person who has always been there for others. He is known for his dedication, hard work, and positive attitude, always willing to offer a helping hand to others. He is a great friend and a great law enforcement officer who has touched the lives of many.

The Situation

Unfortunately, Domingo was diagnosed and treated for a serious form of gout. Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis that results from an excess of uric acid in the blood. He recently underwent debridement, which is the removal of damaged tissue or foreign objects from a wound, which left him with a large open wound on the inner part of his left foot. The treatment plan includes gout infusion treatment, which is given through a needle inserted into a vein by a healthcare professional. The infusion lasts several hours and is given every two weeks. Treatment can result in gout flares, particularly upon initiation due to rapid lowering of urate concentrations.

Despite having insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses are substantial and beyond what he can manage alone since these treatments, which are crucial for his recovery, are not covered by the insurance.
