Malawi is the 17th most impoverished country in the world. It’s landlocked geographical location has made it historically a constant struggle for people to receive the necessary resources it takes for basic needs. I spent last Spring in Malawi and was completely moved by how happy everyone there seemed despite living in complete poverty. On my journey, I met a man named Moses and his brother, Alick who run Hope Nursery in a tiny village about 20 km outside of Nkhata Bay in northern Malawi. Hope Nursery is a free child care service run by the two brothers to support working families in their village. Currently Hope Nursery holds up to 77 two-four year olds on any given day. However, limited funds have left it lacking running water, toilets (other than two holes in the ground,) and a crumbling infrastructure. The children have no supplies and spend most of their day in one cold cement room reciting lessons painted on the wall .
Moses, Alick, and I want a healthier place overall for the children of this community to prevent the spread of diseases and make a more comfortable educational environment these young minds can thrive in. We are starting small and raising funds by prioritizing the most basic needs first like securing the roof , building a fence for protection from the busy highway, and building the toilets. If you have even a dollar to contribute helping them make this nursery into something more functional please donate. No donation is too small. A dollar goes far in Malawi and theres no doubt education is crucial to our future. I will be posting pictures of the production as it happens and if you personally want updates feel free to message me privately.
