<div>Hi, I'm Bill and I'm raising funds for my son-in-law TJ and my granddaughter Nova. My daughter Emily passed away last year---and she was TJ's wife, and Nova's mom.

<div>The last few years were rough for many folks, including our family. We lost our old canine friend Buster, there have been multiple operations, and we went through several rounds of COVID. By far the worst of all was the death of Emily, our beloved daughter/sister/wife/mother. That’s something we all have to live with every single day—especially Emmy’s husband TJ, and their daughter, Nova. Facebook friends know that Nova is the imp they often see twirling and dancing across my page.

<div>There’s been still more upheaval since Emmy’s death last May: I had to move with little notice, then, TJ lost his job. Thankfully, he’s got another job, but now, we need to move Nova and TJ.

<div>Here’s why: they live in an area that overall isn’t horrible, but they’re in a stretch where apartments are really packed in, and it’s become increasingly sketchy. The other night there was a drive-by shooting in front of their apartment, with at least 10 shots fired. They weren’t hurt, thank God, but hearing Nova say, “bad guys had guns and shot but we hid and we okay”--- tells me that enough is enough. Especially since gunshots had been fired near their apartment several times before. This was the scariest, most-dramatic episode, but it wasn't the first.

<div>So: my immediate concern is keeping Nova and TJ safe.

<div>After some maneuvering, they can move in near me on September 1st. It won’t be ideal, but it’s a nice area and the biggest threats are from noisy squirrels and bunnies that dart out unexpectedly. We can live with that.

<div>My experience with major life upheavals—and I’ve experienced more than my share— is that you have to act, then figure out how to pay for it while you act. That was true with Emmy’s funeral, and I think it’s true in this case. Whatever cash resources we once had have been wiped out by the events of the last couple years.

<div>I don’t like asking for help. As FB friends probably know, I’ve had to do that several times in recent years–-and thanks again to all those who helped before. I’m asking now for your help in getting Nova and TJ into a safe place. There will be direct moving expenses, the truck and so on, and then there will be the usual utility deposits, security deposits, and probably a bunch of things we haven't even thought of yet.

<div>I’m grateful for all the friends who have expressed concern for us during these recent troubled times, and supported us with their words and their deeds. I’m grateful for all the folks who have said how much they care for Nova and TJ.
