Help Nona, a Black trans woman, afford housing!

Nona Conner is a Black trans woman who calls DC home. Due to discrimination, she's struggled to get on her feet.
Nona ran away from an abusive home when she was 15 years-old, and went to K Street where she traded sex to survive. She was embraced by many other Black trans girls who had also ran away from home after going through similar experiences. Now, Nona commits her life to supporting abuse survivors and empowering trans women of color.
As an advocate with DC-based organization Collective Action for Safe Spaces, Nona provides job training to trans and nonbinary people of color in DC. She's also a leader in the Sex Workers' Advocates Coalition and the coalitions DECRIMNOW DC campaign, a campaign to decriminalize sex work in DC. Nona fights for a world where people aren't criminalized for survival, and are able to get access to housing, education, transportation, jobs, healthcare, and other resources.
Nona's a survivor. She's lived through domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, and being stabbed nearly 50 times. Still, the trauma persists. Over the last decade, Nona has self-medicated on and off to get through the pain. She's committed to her journey of recovery and healing.
Nona is raising money to help her afford rent at a sober living home. This will help Nona focus on her healing, increase her capacity to afford therapy, and allow her to slowly get back engaged with her important advocacy and organizing with Collective Action for Safe Spaces and the Sex Workers' Advocates Coalition!

About the organizer: My name is Jordan DeLoach, and I'm a Black queer woman and organizer with BYP100 (Black Youth Project 100), the Sex Workers' Advocates Coalition, and the DECRIMNOW DC campaign. I first met Nona when I interviewed her for a story, which eventually turned into the article published in Truthout linked above. Nona and I grew closer and closer after the story, and now I consider her like a big sister. She calls me Lady J and is always trying to make me smile. One time when I was feeling depressed, Nona called me and sang me a song, and she has the most beautiful, rich singing voice. She's always giving to others, even when she has little at all, and her radiance lights up every room. She's real, genuine, loving, big-hearted, and will make you laugh with her silliness and dramatics. Nona loves and is loved, and I hope we can support her as a community to help her afford a home.
