Help Nina see...severe eyelid disease
Disputanta Animal Hospital works with animal control agencies throughout the area and unfortunately we get to see some of the worst of the worst. The fortunate part is that we do our best to help these animals that can be saved, treat their medical problems, and find them forever homes. They no longer will have to live tragic lives. We couldn’t do it without the financial support of our animal loving community.
We will take in our newest case for surgery tomorrow. Although we have only seen pictures, she is a young friendly mastiff named Nina with severe left eyelid entropion.
This means her eyelids roll in onto her eyeball so that the hair is constantly irritating her and making it difficult to open for her to see out of that eye. She also has the same condition in her right eye which will require surgery as well but it does not appear to be as severe. This disease causes corneal ulcers, eyeball irritation, blindness due to scars on the cornea and possibly loss of an eye if not corrected. We won’t be able to assess her ocular damage until tomorrow. We also plan to get her vaccinated, tend to any skin condition, check her for internal parasites, heartworm’s, etc. and deal with any of those health issues. We also plan on spaying her once we get her situated.
As municipal shelters are not able to
care for animals with this type of medical need, we are all able to come together to save one baby at a time.
you can call the hospital at [phone redacted] To make a donation towards her care or use this page. If there are any excess funds, they will be saved for the next animal in need.
