Help Nikita Remove His Tumour!

Donation protected

Hi all,

I would like to share the story of my son, Nikita, with you today because his health is in danger and we need to act fast.

Nikita is 17 and we are living in Cork, Ireland. He is a lovely boy who always cares a lot about humanity. He is also interested in maths and computers and dreams to become a computer software engineer.

However, on August 17th, he was diagnosed with a very rare tumour called Juvenile Angiofibroma (JNA) and since then, his life has changed a lot. JNA is a very rare, benign tumour with a highly vascular structure and locally aggressive character which mainly occurs in male adolescents. It represents 0.05% to 0.5% of all head and neck tumours. The JNA range is from 1 in 10,000 people to 1 in 1,000,000. This tumour grows and can lead to hearing loss, blindness, facial deformites and even brain damage. Since the tumour is very vascular, there is an extreme risk of surgical blood loss which is why it's very challenging to remove and requires a great expertise from multiple surgeons. We were referred to a professor in Dublin, in November. He looked at the tumour and said it was ‘large and extending’ and told us we would have the surgery in January. Unfortunately, the professor has still not organized his team and has not given us any news and this forced us to wait for many months with no surgery date in sight. Over this waiting period, Nikita's health has worsened a lot, he lost a lot of weight and cannot sleep normally because of constant pressure in his nose that he describes feeling "like a stone wanting to come out". The tumour also puts pressure on his eyes, causing double vision, and his ears which are constantly blocked and ringing. Nikita has not smelled anything through his nose since April last year. He is losing hope now, as the professor has not provided any updates about the surgery to us personally,  and is always worried because of everything that is happening.

We are reaching out for help now in raising funds for him to allow us to seek other medical options across the world in the hope of helping Nikita overcome this awful disease!

There are hospitals in Germany with very experienced surgeons who have performed JNA surgeries before and they can help Nikita and bring him back to a normal life. The cost of the surgery and all other medical expenses associated is €50K. We will need to stay there for 8 days as Nikita will need to do an embolization of the tumour prior to the surgery and possibly hormonal therapy.

After the surgery, we will need to do a lot of rehabilitation procedures and scans but it can be done in Ireland. We need to have this surgery so urgently because the tumour has become much more aggressive than before and each day is such a great battle and we don't know how much longer we can wait.

Thank you so much for all of your support and generosity. It means so much to us during this extremely difficult time xxx
