Help Nicolas Leave Detention

I met Nicolas in February of 2019 inside a for-profit immigration detention center in Arizona.
I knew Nicolas was there because his brother, someone I had met two years prior while I lived in Guatemala, reached out to ask if there was anything I could do to help his brother. Nicolas has been detained for two and a half months now, and has been given a bond of $8,500, which is surprisingly low for immigration bonds. Nicolas fled his home country of Guatemala due to many unimaginable reasons, and hopes to find safety in the U.S. through seeking asylum.
After many visits and phone calls with Nicolas, someone I now see as a dear friend, I am asking for the help of my community to support Nicolas in paying his bond so that he can leave and live with his cousin. (His family has started raising money in Guatemala, but are still in need of support).
If you as an individual, church, or community group can donate any amount of money we can pay this bond together and help Nicolas to be released from detention and reunited with his family. Nicolas has a much higher chance of winning his asylum case if he is outside of detention, where he can more easily find legal resources and support.
We hope to raise this bond as soon as we can, so that Nicolas does not need to spend another week incarcerated. Please consider helping this cause as there are so many people who are taken advantage of within the immigration system.
If just 20 individuals/ groups can offer $425 we will have the $8,500!
