Neo was the first pet we brought home as a family. He’s playful, sweet, cuddly, and still so young — not even a year old yet.

Over Labor Day weekend, Neo went missing. We were devastated, searching and calling for him every day. Six days later, miraculously, he limped home in the evening, somehow managing to jump our 4 ft fence with badly broken legs just to be back with us.

When we took him to the vet, the X-rays showed heartbreaking injuries:

Left hip dislocated

Left tibia spiral fracture

Right leg completely snapped at the hip joint

The first vet suggested euthanasia, but we couldn’t give up on him. Neo is still full of purrs, stubborn determination, and the will to live. With a second opinion, we got him medicated and were referred to Clay Humane Society.

At Clay, they told us Neo will need double FHO surgery (one on each hip) so he can walk comfortably again. Without it, every step will mean his bones grinding together in excruciating pain.

The costs:

Double FHO surgery: $815–$965

Spiral fracture repair: $600

Exams, X-rays, medication already paid: $450

Total estimated need: up to $2,015

We’re setting our goal at $2,000 to cover Neo’s surgeries and give him the chance to walk, play, and grow up with our family.
