Help Neil Feel More Connected in Isolation

The other day I came across a request on a freecycle website by Neil, requesting a computer for studying, and a games console. At first I was surprised to see such a request, but then I read the description and my heart ached - the thought of someone with a disability having to live completely alone (especially with lockdown going on) just didn't sit right in my head, and in this chaotic time in which human interaction can be scarce for many people, I felt I should do something to show Neil that people still care, even if it’s hard to see it.  I have already told him that I'd be more than happy to give him my old laptop, so he's sorted on that front. However, I felt that wouldn't be enough to help him through the feeling of loneliness that we all inevitably experience sometimes, so I'm aiming to find a second hand Playstation 3 for him - mostly because the online service is free, so he'll have the option to play with others, if he wants to. He has a disability which affects his movement, so I'd also like to try and get him a wired mouse so that he doesn't struggle using the laptop touchpad, and in one of his messages to me he also pointed out that he struggled using the small keys on his phone, so with that in mind I’m also looking for a large font keyboard that he can use with the laptop. From the conversations I’ve had with Neil, it was plain to see how grateful he was for my mere offer of a laptop, so I can imagine he’d be absolutely over the moon if we can sort him out a console as well. Both Neil and I would be eternally grateful for any support, and I’ll try to update you all after I take the laptop to him. As a final note, if you have a working PS3 system, PS3 games or anything else game related that you want to get rid of, please let me know as it would really help me out! Again, we would both be grateful beyond belief for any and all support this gets. Funding will be spent as so: • PS3/Games Console £50-£60 • Large Font Keyboard £15 • Ergonomic Mouse £15-20 • Any surplus funds will be used to ensure Neil has adequate food and supplies to eat/use Thank you for reading, Ollie :)
