Help Neena’s family in a time of need

Hello, this is Madison Neena’s sister. As many of you know on March 1st of this year my sister suffered from a cardiac arrest followed by a large amount of brain damage after being put on a ventilator. She went in with just pain in her back and nothing else. The day before we were running around going to a thrift store but when I woke up in the morning she hadn’t slept and could hardly breathe from the pain. Me and my mom pressured her to go to the emergency room at 8am because she was clearly in the worst pain of her life. We waited awhile and when we got called back they gave her tons of pain medication but nothing had helped her. They then told us she had pneumonia and put her on a machine for a breathing treatment and then oxygen. I had left around 3pm so my mom and aunt could go see her. When I woke up in the morning I was told she had went into cardiac arrest because of the ventilator and that everything was FINE because they brought her right back. I went back up to the hospital at 12 the following day and then was told it took 4-5 minutes to bring her back after around 3 minutes without oxygen the brain can suffer damage. I saw my sister completely unresponsive for the next week. On the 7th day we had to make “decisions” as the doctor put it because she had suffered a large amount of brain damage. She has damage on her left brain steam and right frontal lobe. A few other parts of her brain are dead but we have hope. The brain can do Miracles but only time will tell. We won’t give up hope for now she is in long term care.

A few things about Neena: This girl loves her mom more than anyone could love a person. She would do anything to keep her by her side. I’m my sisters baby. She changed my dirty diapers and is so proud to be my big sister. She loves her friends like family and if she ever got in a fight with them she found a way to apologize. She is really one of the nicest selfless people I’ve ever met. Everyone who has met her knows how much she laughs and really brings light into people lives. She wanted to always help the less fortunate not even a week before this all happened she gave a homeless man a gift card for Portillos because that’s all she had to give. I don’t know how this could happen to such a ray of absolute sunshine.

Neena has been taking care of me and my mom since our dad past away. It has been the three of us against the world. She provided for us, ran all the errands, made us laugh even though times have been so hard. My mom isn’t in the best of health so my sister has slept by her side for the past years. She was my boyfriends personal chauffeur to and from school. She was just my big sister and that’s all she had to be. We have never had a lot of money and we have never asked for much but I realize now that there is nothing right now we can do. Like I said neena provided for us and I’m working on getting a job and on disability but there’s a lot of hidden steps and waiting that has to happen first. Please don’t feel the need to hurt your pockets, but anything at all will help. The texts and prayers have helped so much so truly thank you everyone.
