I am Ananda Mali. I am working for TechM as part of the Digital Production Support team at offshore.
In Feb 2018, my wife was 7 months pregnant with our baby. During the last trimester check-up, we got to know about my wife being infected by Cancer (in the intestine).
We were requested to get her moved from Dhule (my native) to Apollo hospital in Nashik, immediately. We were told that if we don’t start the treatment in 6 hrs., then we can lose both the mother and baby. Since her intestine was infected with Cancer, they anticipated doing a C-section can risk her and babies’ life. During the month of Mar, doctors performed multiple surgeries on my wife with an intention to get her out of danger but without any commitments on the future life of baby.
With the help of TechM and others, I could manage the financial expenses to get my wife and baby out of danger from pregnancy phase complications and uncertainties. My baby is normal and has been cleared from any kind of infection or danger.
But post pregnancy surgeries, the city & PET scan revealed that my wife is in Stage IV cancer and the infection has spread to multiple organs. Due to the impact of surgeries on her body, during pregnancy phase, doctor’s had advised against starting any Cancer treatment. They wanted her body to be at some stage of stability. During this phase, the complications due to infection and cyst in intestine further aggravated the healing of her surgery wounds. We were running against time since doctor would have ideally wanted to start the treatment asap considering the stage of Cancer. Unfortunately, we waited for more than 2 months for the wounds & body to heal for Chemotherapy to start. Now from last 2 weeks, she has started her chemotherapy and Cancer related treatment at Ruby Hospital in Pune. As per doctors in Ruby and Tata Memorial, though she is at a very critical stage the condition can be treated. So I am looking to give everything it takes to get her condition treated. Unfortunately, I am not from a very sound economic background. The cost of the treatment, as per initial estimates, will be around $26,000 especially since she has to go through 10-12 chemotherapy sessions. With help of TechM I have claimable insurance cover of $16,000 while the copay and out of pocket settlements is expected to be approx. $10,000 of the overall treatment cost. I have very limited options to pay the out of pocket settlement and if I don’t pay it then the hospital will stop the treatment.
