If you've been around me in the last couple years, you've, no doubt, been witness to my terrible cough first hand. First thought to be allergies and then asthma, I was recently diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Putting it bluntly--I can't breathe!!!
I was hospitalized with Rhino Virus on September 28 that quickly morphed into Pneumonia and I was quickly moved from Great Falls Clinic Hospital to Benefis East Hospital Intensive Care Unit where I spent three weeks. The first week I spent time on a ventilator, intubated and heavily sedated. The second and third weeks I was taken off the ventilator and the intubation tube was removed. I looked forward to eating ice chips!! Those of you who know I'm a foodie may not understand this craving.
On October 20, I was airlifted from Benefis East to Advanced Care Hospital of Montana in Billings where I spent three more weeks to receive intensive care, pulmonary, physical and occupational therapies. I wasn't loosing ground in Billings but wasn't getting any better either so it was decided the best course of action was to airlift me to The University of Utah Medical Centerin Salt Lake City to access the next level of care. That occurred on November 11, 2017.
My Care Team discourages me from talking very much as that requires more oxygen and induces coughing. Phone calls are out of the question but emails are welcome.
Keith and my home is in Great Falls, Montana, 225 miles from Billings. Keith has incurred travel expenses going back and forth from Great Falls to Billings on a weekly basis as weather permited. This is just one of many expenses incurred. Now that I have been transferred to the University Of Utah Medical Center, travel expenses have grown exponentially.
