I never imagined I would be writing something like this. Recently, my life was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with two tumors in my head, located behind my right eye. The news was overwhelming and terrifying. My doctors have told me I will need surgery and radiation treatments to remove the tumors and give me the best chance at recovery. This is not just a medical challenge—it's a fight for my life and my future.

I want to share a little about who I am because my journey has been one of overcoming hardship and giving back. I am a woman in recovery who has been sober for 6 years. In those years, I worked hard to rebuild my life, graduating from school and recently becoming licensed by the state of Massachusetts as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Helping others find hope and healing has been my passion and purpose.

Unfortunately, because I have not been with my employer long enough, I don't qualify for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) or PMLA (Paid Medical Leave). This means that when I am unable to work during treatment and recovery, I will have no income to cover my basic living expenses, let alone the mounting medical costs that come with such serious treatment.

* Basic living expenses during recovery when I cannot work

* Transportation to and from my many upcoming appointments
