<div>I have been working with friends based in Myanmar to raise and deliver funds for families affected by compound crises in the country: violent conflict, floods, the termination of USAID funding, and a 7.7 magnitude earthquake. These friends and I met during our graduate school programs, where both of our work focused on responses to conflict and crises in Burma, and we have continued to support each other and our communities in the years since. I trust them and the work they do very much.

<div>I am raising funds to assist three such CBOs, which have supported upwards of 450 families in three regions affected by airstrikes, other forms of violent conflict, and floods. The abrupt termination of funds has put these emergency response programs at risk, leaving thousands of elders, women, and children in danger of losing essential emergency packages that include essential needs such as food, water, mosquito nets, etc.

<div>The activities of these CBOs are carried out almost completely by local volunteers, who do this work without pay. Many have already donated significant personal funds to compensate for the termination of USAID funding.

<div>Now, in light of the 7.7 magnitude <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crlxlxd7882o" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">earthquake which hit Myanmar</a> on 28 March, these organizations are in even greater need of funding. This earthquake has not only affected these IDP families, who were already affected by violent conflicts and floods, but it has impeded the ability of organizations committed to supporting them to carry out their activities as usual.

<div>By organizing this fundraiser, we aim to give emergency aid to families who are made very vulnerable by these compound disasters.

<div>Our Goal: Raise <strong>$4,500</strong> in funds to ensure approximately 150 displaced families receive the support they need to survive for at least a month.
