<div>Hello, my name is Sara Jamil Sukker, and I'm a dentistry student with a passion for making a difference in people's lives. Ever since I can remember, I've dreamed of becoming a dentist and serving my community. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, I've persevered and excelled academically, achieving a grade point average of 93.4% in high school and earning distinction during my first year of dental school at Al-Azhar University in Gaza.

Becoming a dentist isn't just about achieving my personal goals; it's about rebuilding lives and restoring hope in a community that has been ravaged by conflict. <div>Before the war started in Gaza, I was getting ready for my second year of study. During the summer break, my mom and I went to Egypt for a short vacation. I remember walking around the markets, looking for the tools I needed for my studies. I picked out what I needed carefully and bought it. I got everything for my dentistry studies for the next year and beyond. I packed it all into a bag and brought it back to Gaza, feeling like I had my most precious belongings with me.

<div>However, my dreams have been put on hold due to the devastating effects of the war in Gaza. Damages to my university have made it impossible for me to continue my education and pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a dentist. The ongoing conflict has robbed me of the opportunity to fulfill my potential and contribute to my community in a meaningful way. (Here is a picture of my university)

<div>My family and I fled our home amidst the war, barely escaping with our lives, in a bitter displacement journey, moving from one house to another until gradually becoming homeless after our fourth displacement. We are residing now in a tent on the sidewalk in a catastrophic living situation in southern Gaza. Meanwhile, the image of the dream I always imagined, of being a "doctor wearing the white coat," became distant in my mind.

<div>Today, I am displaced in my country and have been unable to study for months. I have lost a whole academic year of my life, and there is no hope for studying in the coming years here in Gaza.
</div>

</div>
<div>But after all these terrible events, there was some good news that brought back the image of my beautiful dream to me. One of the neighbors who chose to stay in northern Gaza told me that my medical bag had survived among the rubble of the walls of our house there. (Our house in Gaza)

<div>The funds raised will cover tuition fees, living expenses, and any additional costs associated with relocating to Egypt to complete my studies. I calculated it as follows:

<div>•	Tuition fees cost 5000 USD on average for each year. It takes 6 years to graduate, but I hope I can get the year I already finished in Gaza recognized. If I couldn’t retrieve any documents from my school, then I’d have to start over. (Total for 5 years 25000 USD)

<div>•	First registration fees cost around 1500 USD.
</div>
<div>•	Minimum living expenses including rent, transportation, and food cost around 400 USD per month. Rent alone cost 200 on average. (Total for 5 years: 400*12*5 = 24000 USD)

<div>•	Relocation expenses will be around 5000 USD, and most of them will go as fees for enlisting my name on the border control with Egypt.

<div>The minimum total if I could get the year that I finished recognized is around 55500 USD. In Euro, the total is 51500

<div>Bevor der Krieg in Gaza, wo ich lebe, begann, bereitete ich mich auf mein zweites Studienjahr vor. Während der Sommerpause reiste meine Mutter und ich nach Ägypten für einen kurzen Urlaub. Ich erinnere mich daran, wie ich durch die Märkte ging, auf der Suche nach den Werkzeugen, die ich für mein Studium brauchte. Ich wählte sorgfältig aus und kaufte sie. Ich habe alles für mein Zahnmedizinstudium für das nächste Jahr und darüber hinaus. Ich packte alles in eine Tasche und brachte es zurück nach Gaza, und fühlte, dass ich meine kostbarsten Besitztümer bei mir hatte.

<div>Aber meine Träume wurden durch die verheerenden Auswirkungen des Krieges in Gaza auf Eis gelegt. Die Zerstörung meiner Universität hat es mir unmöglich gemacht, mein Studium fortzusetzen und meinen lebenslangen Traum, Zahnärztin zu werden, zu verwirklichen. Der andauernde Konflikt hat mir die Möglichkeit genommen, mein Potenzial zu entfalten und auf sinnvolle Weise zu meiner Gemeinschaft beizutragen.

<div>Meine Familie und ich flohen aus unserem Zuhause angesichts des Kriegs, retteten uns gerade so mit unserem Leben, in einer bitteren Flucht, bewegten uns von einem Haus zum anderen, bis wir nach unserem vierten Umzug leider obdachlos wurden. Wir leben jetzt in einem Zelt auf dem Bürgersteig in einer katastrophalen Lebenssituation im Süden von Gaza. Währenddessen wurde das Bild vom Traum, den ich mir immer vorgestellt habe, von einer "Ärztin im weißen Kittel", in meinem Kopf immer weiter entfernt.

<div>Heute bin ich in meinem Land vertrieben und konnte seit Monaten nicht studieren. Ich habe ein ganzes Studienjahr meines Lebens verloren, und es gibt keine Hoffnung, in den kommenden Jahren hier zu studieren.

<div>Aber nach all diesen schrecklichen Ereignissen gab es eine gute Nachricht, die das Bild meines schönen Traums zurückbrachte. Einer der Nachbarn, der sich entschieden hatte, im Norden von Gaza zu bleiben, sagte mir, dass meine medizinische Tasche unter den Trümmern der Wände meines Hauses überlebt hatte.

<div>Die gesammelten Gelder werden die Studiengebühren, Lebenshaltungskosten und alle zusätzlichen Kosten für die Flucht nach Ägypten zur Fertigstellung meines Studiums abdecken. Ich habe es wie folgt berechnet:

<div>Die Studiengebühren betragen im Durchschnitt 5000 USD pro Jahr. Es dauert 6 Jahre, um den Abschluss zu machen, aber ich hoffe, dass ich das Jahr, das ich bereits in Gaza abgeschlossen habe, anerkannt bekomme. Wenn ich keine Dokumente von meiner Schule zurückbekommen könnte, müsste ich von vorne anfangen. (insgesamt für 5 Jahre 25.000 USD)

<div>قبل اندلاع الحرب في غزة، كنت على استعداد للدخول للسنة الثانية من دراستي. خلال الإجازة الصيفية، سافرت مع والدتي إلى مصر لقضاء إجازة قصيرة. أتذكر كيف كنت أتجول في الأسواق، بحثاً عن الأدوات التي أحتاجها لدراستي. اخترتها بعناية واشتريتها، وكنت سعيدة ان أصبح لدي كل ما يلزم لدراستي في كلية طب الأسنان. لكن تم إفساد أحلامي بفعل الحرب المدمرة في غزة، ودمرت الجامعة التي كنت أدرس فيها، وأصبح من المستحيل مواصلة دراستي وتحقيق حلمي.

<div>بسبب الدمار الذي خلفته الحرب في غزة، تجمدت أحلامي وتلاشت بعيداً. الجامعة التي كنت أدرس فيها تم تدميرها، مما حال دون إمكانية مواصلة دراستي وتحقيق حلمي الدائم بأن أصبح طبيبة أسنان. هذا الصراع المتواصل سلبني الفرصة لاستثمار قدراتي والمساهمة بشكل فعّال في مجتمعي.

<div>نزحت مع عائلتي بسبب الحرب، واجتزنا بصعوبة أياماً مريرة من الفرار، حيث انتقلنا من منزل إلى آخر، ووجدنا أخيراً أنفسنا بلا مأوى بعد الأزمة. الآن، نعيش في خيمة على الرصيف في ظروف حياتية مأساوية في جنوب غزة. في ظل هذه الظروف القاسية، تباعدت فكرة الحلم الجميل الذي كنت أحلم به دائماً، "أن أصبح طبيبة أسنان بالمعطف الأبيض".
