Help my teenage son who was beaten and robbed

My son who is 16, was at a bus stop on Hastings near Nanaimo in Vancouver BC.   He was on his iPad he looked up for a sec and noticed 4 guys walking towards him he put his iPad away in his backpack. They are all wearing black masks you know for the virus, they all of a sudden grab him and throw him to the ground all 4 of them are attacking him and kicking him. They then grabbed his backpack that has his iPad in it and jump on a bus. Meanwhile my son is on the ground trying to recover from what just happened omg I'm getting mad all over again, happened at 9 am on Monday May 25

Main thing is I'm grateful it wasn't worse like they had knives and stabbed him, still he is in a lot of pain tylenol does not really help and he hates taking pills, he is healing and feeling better slowly his ribs are still sore and his knees they were stomping lots on his legs and knees seemed like they were trying to break his legs or knees.  But please tell your teens to be aware of their surroundings not to be staring at their phones etc. My son was a target who knows why because he was distracted by his iPad maybe, but now he is without what was connecting him to his friends playing fortnight etc on his iPad video chat etc he also has photos and memories from his sister who recently passed and that is priceless to him and not to the thugs who stole his stuff, also his schooling was all done on there his passwords etc all on his iPad unfortunately we cannot afford to replace his iPad 
Just please teach your kids to be aware especially if they are alone
