Help My Sister Pay Her Surgery And Hospital Bills

My name is Liz and my sister Deborah just had two surgeries and a 13 day hospital stay.

Her stomach began swelling uncomfortably around September and then the weakness happened. We noticed a slow decline in how she was feeling. In late November her left leg became swollen to the point where it was mandatory that she saw a doctor because she could barely walk and after numerous tests they said they saw a large mass that was blocking an artery in her leg and that was causing that swelling but that she was also in renal failure so she needed to go for an outpatient stent surgery in her bladder to relieve that. After that surgery they deduced that they needed to remove that large mass in her abdomen immediately so they did a second surgery to remove that. After 5 + hours in surgery and another 3 hours in the recovery post operation room her surgeon came in and spoke with me. He informed me that he was almost positive that it was cancer and probably stage four judging by the volleyball size mass he removed. (We’re being positive and praying that when the results come in that won’t be the case and that she’ll make a full recovery as quickly as possible.) She lost 2 liters of blood during the operation so I am administering blood thinner shots. He also had to remove part of her colon so she now has to use a colostomy bag for fecal relief. Suffice it to say, this has been the worst year my sister and I have ever had.

She has never been sick with the exception of an errant cold so she doesn’t have health insurance and you can imagine the expensive cost of both surgeries, 13 day hospital stay, tests, medications, and necessities that she now needs.

Even though she is 20+ years older than I am I’ve never ever seen her weak a day in her life.  I’ve never seen anyone who was more active than her. She’s also more kindhearted and giving than anyone I know. Not to mention that she takes care of and has been taking care of our mother that has dementia, hypertension, and macular degeneration for years.

In March her place of business went under and our mother’s doctor advised us not to work and to quarantine to prevent her from being exposed so she’s been out of work due to the coronavirus on top of all of this that has been happening lately.

2020 hasn’t been kind to anyone and it’s incredibly heartbreaking for us right now.

She has never asked for help but she is my best friend and we desperately need help right now so I’m doing the asking. In addition to the painful healing she’s going through right now we’re also worriedly waiting on the test results. So please, if you can donate anything, that would be greatly appreciated.
