Help My Roommate Replace His Car

Hello all,

The date was September 14th, 2020. Around noon, I was sitting in my room when I heard a brief screech followed by a loud crash. I jumped up and went to the front door to see my concerned (and nosy) neighbor peering into my house from outside. I opened the door and saw the results of the wreck for myself.

My roommate's car was parked on the street in front of our place. Our street is  busy and has two lanes of traffic running parallel to where my roommate parked his Chrysler Lebaron. The negligent driver (Royal Blue sedan) crashed head-on into my roommate's car. The way the car went head-on into the side of my roommate's car (see photo) pinned the front passenger side into a tree. The rear passenger side was pinned to a telephone pole.  The direct collision damage on the driver's side was ugly as well.

The driver had a passenger with him and they both exhibited behavior that would lead me to believe they were under the influence. On top of that, they were uninsured. The driver's brother arrived to the scene to balance out the situation and assist his brother.  The driver's brother jumped into the blue sedan to move it out of traffic. Upon parking and exiting car, he (not so) discreetly scolded his brother for having "these lying all over the floor" as he handed off a bunch of white pills to the owner of the blue car.  My roommate exchanged information with the driver. The driver's brother made hollow promises of having his friend's auto body shop estimate the repairs. He made more propositions to low ball my roommate and it hurt to see him lose his car to a reckless driver. The police were called but did not arrive until four hours later.

I'm hoping to surprise my roommate with funds to purchase another Lebaron that's in better shape. He remarked how much he loved his car on more than a few occasions and I can only imagine how much it hurt to see it go like that. He's playing it very cool but it is simply NO FUN to have your freedom as a motorist taken away. Please consider donating to help my buddy get some new wheels. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
