Donations Needed for Rescue Kittens

DECEMBER 31, 2017

Hello again! I have recently taken up trapping, neutering, and releasing feral cat colonies around Cincinnati for people who don’t have the funds, supplies, or transportation to do so on their own. It’s been an adventure and I can’t wait to help more people!

Yesterday however, I took in a very sick feral kitten and a pregnant stray. The kitten, lovingly named Penguin, has a severe upper respiratory infection, herpes of the eyes, and an ulcer on his left eye. He’s been starting on antibiotics, but it’s possible that his eye has to have surgery or be removed. He is an adorable kitten who will make a wonderful companion when he’s healthy.

The pregnant kitty I named Tilly. She is a darling tortie girl around 2 years old. When I picked her up in Norwood, she was skin and bones, sitting out in the cold. Upon getting her home I found her entire body covered in scabs from the severe flea infestation she had. I gave her a capstar pill to kill the fleas and started her on prevention. She will see my vet this week to get an ultrasound done to estimate how far along she is.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am a 21 year old recent college graduate with a passion for animals. I have been involved in animal rescue for over 9 years and currently volunteer for the Stray Animal Adoption Program. I have recently started working with UCAN, the low cost spay neuter clinic in Cincinnati, to TNR in the area. TNR means trapping, neutering, and returning to help the pet population. This is all what I do in my spare time. I work full time for SAFY as a family development specialist. Your donations and support are so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. If you would ever like to come visit the animals I rescue in person, reach out to me!

OCTOBER 2017

Family, friends, and strangers...
As you know, I have always had an intense love for animals.  Whenever an animal is in need, I am always ready to lend a hand. I have fostered cats and kittens for over 7 years and am currently on my 119th foster! We have 4 cats and one dog of our own. I am fostering 7 kittens at the moment, all of whom I love dearly.

What I need is some help.... I was made aware of a feral/semi-feral cat colony living in the Island Lake Trailer Park which is on the way to Oxford in Hamilton.  When I visited the trailer park, I was VERY overwhelmed with the situation. If I had to guess, there are 50-70 cats and kittens roaming the park. The majority of them are at the end of the cul-de-sac of a street where the owner moved out and left the cats to fend for themselves.

None of the cats are fixed, most are wild, and a lot of them have upper respiratory and/or eye infections. They range in color, size, friendliness, and age. I have placed THIRTEEN cats and kittens in homes or barns thus far and it doesn't even seem to have made a dent. I am in the process of working with multiple of my rescue friends, including Sara Shope, Jodi Duff, and Kelly Hansel to Trap Neuter and Release (TNR) the cats.

I am in desperate need of more traps to catch them in, food to feed them daily, and medications to treat the eye and upper respiratory infections. Funding is also needed for vetting of the friendly kittens that have since been placed in foster homes.  I appreciate anything you can donate. If you would prefer to buy some cat food for them, that's great too. Literally ANYTHING helps. Spare change even helps, a can of food is about 60 cents, that is something.

I thank you all in advance and I will be sure to update this post as I catch more cats and get them spayed and neutered to end the cat overpopulation in the area.
