is fighting breast cancer.

She is currently on chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and oral chemotherapy all at once. These harsh treatments have made her very weak, but she continues to fight bravely every single day. I have never seen anyone as strong as my mother.

Recently, her genomic testing revealed that she carries the ESR1 mutation along with other mutations. According to her doctors, she is responding to the chemo and targeted therapies well and to target this mutation we need a specific medication: Elacestrant (brand name Orserdu). This drug is only available in the United States and is not available in India or Bangladesh, where we are currently receiving treatment.

The cost of this medication is extremely high — about $8,000–$10,000 per month. That alone comes to nearly $120,000 per year. In addition, we also need to cover her ongoing chemotherapy, targeted therapy, frequent scans, blood tests, hospital visits, flights, and accommodation costs as we continue treatment abroad. Altogether, our family needs to raise around $130,000 USD to ensure she receives one year of treatment and care.

We are a middle-class family from Bangladesh, and after four years of continuous treatment, our resources are exhausted. We simply cannot afford this on our own anymore. My mother deserves a chance to live, to fight, and to spend more time with her loved ones.
