Help my mom to get a Heart Surgery

Dear friends,

This is by far one of the hardest messages I have ever written. I am reaching out to ask for help with getting my mother Natallia a heart surgery to increase her chances of surviving.
Last year, she was diagnosed with chronic atrial fibrillation and was told that she needs urgent heart surgery. My mother lives in Belarus, where the political circumstances do not allow her to obtain the medical care she desperately needs.

Luckily, we were able to find a doctor in Russia that would operate on her heart, yet, the treatment has incurred unanticipated expenses that are overwhelming. Thus, we are in urgent need of funds that will increase the chances of saving her life.

In addition to my mother's condition, she is under financial stress, works six days a week to provide food on the table, takes care of my dad, who has a brain tumour, my grandmother, who is not able to function as well as volunteers in community services, while her heart is progressively giving up on her.

I grew up in a family of strong, inspiring women, from my great-grandmother who was hiding in the woods, giving birth to a child in a pit, keeping her alive during the war, to my grandmother and mother who always had multiple jobs to provide to the family and others around them.
Those women fought for freedom while sacrificing their health and happiness to make sure that others can take the opportunities they never were able to have.

Thankfully to those women, I was lucky and privileged to leave Belarus when I was younger, receive a good education, and experience life outside of oppression. I feel devastated knowing I am not able to help my mom, provide the financial support, the care she requires, or simply be there for her. Since last year I have no opportunity to enter Belarus due to the border regulations nor do I have a visa to travel abroad, especially so with the COVID-19 regulations at this moment, so I am just observing all the craziness from the reflection of my screen.

My mom started having heart fibrillation last summer. However, then, she was diagnosed with so many different diseases and prescribed treatments that consequently only worsen her conditions.

It was quite a frustrating and challenging journey for all of us, with the revolution in Belarus growing, besides the constant stress for safety and the wellbeing of others, it is becoming harder to find the proper medications, equipment, and doctors who could help her with the treatment as well as countries which would welcome her as a Belarusian citizen. As of today, more than two hundred Belarusian doctors have already left the country and cannot return as they will be faced with criminal activities.

This lasted for 10 months while my mom’s health started progressively getting worse and reaching 4 heart fibrillation a day, after which she is not able to speak or move for hours. At this point, we decided we need to get help elsewhere.

We found a hospital in Russia that can provide her with the proper operation. During the surgery, the doctor will make minor cuts in the upper part of the heart and stitch them together to form scar tissue that stops unusual signals. This procedure is our only chance to allow my mom to have a normal life.
While the operation itself is around 16,000 $ USD, we also need to consider the cost of living, the transportations, and the visas.

Today I wish to give my mom a chance for a second life, and this is my opportunity to give back the only way I can at this moment.

I kindly request your help if you have the financial means for doing so. If not, please feel free to share this page with your community. A considerable amount of money is needed, but any amount can make the difference and will help save my mother's life.

I appreciate you taking the time to read up here.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
