<div>Hello, my name is Emely. I'm fundraising for my mom Ana Perez.  In the winter of 2016, our world changed forever. Our mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She faced it with a kind of strength and courage that only a mother could, always smiling through the pain, always putting us first, no matter what she was going through.

<div>Over the past nine years, she’s been through 38 treatments and 3 major surgeries. She's fought every step of the way. But despite everything she’s endured, the cancer never truly went away.

<div>In the summer of 2023, we got news that shattered us — the cancer had spread to her left lung. We held onto hope, like we always have, but in recent months, she developed a deep, persistent cough. On Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, we heard the words no family ever wants to hear. The cancer has now spread to her right lung. Our beautiful, strong, loving mother has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

<div>She can’t work anymore. Her body is tired. And now, the responsibility of holding our family together has fallen on my sister and me. We’re both working students, doing everything we can just to get by — and my sister is also raising her child as a single mom. It’s hard. It’s overwhelming. But we’re determined to keep our home, to keep food on the table, and to make sure our mom is surrounded by love and care every single day.
