My friend Rita is a hardworking, single mother with a beautiful 7 year old daughter. She has a passion for helping others and is now faced with a financial barrier, causing her to reach out to others for help. Her strong will and positive spirit never gives up. Rita is in need of immediate financial assistance. Together, we can make a difference that will have a lasting impact for this family beyond what she can do alone.
About Rita:
She works full time and has worked tirelessly to provide for her daughter. When the financial burden of the bills exceeded her income, she took on a new job that meant being away from my daughter for even longer periods of time. She also took on a second job in an effort to help subsidize the payments for her daughter’s dance classes. Dance is the one thing that brings her true joy. Despite trying to make ends meet and save money, she was unable to make her car payments. When her car was towed and taken away last month, this new reality of poverty has made her daily struggle more complicated. Without a vehicle, she is unable to work the multiple jobs she needs to sustain her life. She has resorted to taking a taxi or uber to work, which is expensive, because public transit does not operate early enough in the mornings. She has also relied on the help of coworkers to drive her, so that her daughter and her can get home safely each night.
Her car is currently being held at a car auction. She can pay for a small one week extension but the timeline is tight and quickly approaching. The car will soon be auctioned and at such time, if that happens, she will then owe even more money. She will still be responsible for the remaining balance that is not paid after the auction. This cycle of debt seems disheartening, but she is committed to seeing this through at a time when she needs it most.
