<div>I am writing to raise funds for my Afghan friend who is trying to help his family in Afghanistan cross the border to safety.

<div>On August 16, when the media were reporting that the Taliban had invaded Kabul, I called my friend, Fahim.
</div>

<div>He told me, "I don’t have my country anymore, and I will never see my father or mother again. The Taliban are coming for my family. They will kill them all because I worked for the U.S. government.”
</div>

<div>Fahim and his wife have been crying, and they didn’t know how they could explain to us that they may never see their grandparents, siblings or cousins again and may never see their home country again.
</div>

<div>Fahim was born and raised in Kabul, and for several years he worked in a “sensitive” department with the U.S. government, doing special assignments all over Afghanistan. He arrested many Taliban and others who were helping them and put them into prison. He thought that it would help build Afghanistan and improve the country’s future.
</div>

<div>Several years ago, he and his wife were granted a special immigrant visa and they moved to the United States. Their lives had been in danger in Afghanistan. They had to leave or be killed. The Taliban had already killed his family members.
</div>

<div>Now that the Taliban has taken control of the country, the people Fahim arrested are being released from prison. They will be searching for people like the family of Fahim, and he wants his family out of danger.
</div>

<div>Fahim says that it's unsafe for his family to fly, as the Taliban will likely find them on their way to the airport. Currently, his family is hiding in small groups in multiple locations, so that if the Taliban finds them, they won’t all be killed at once. They have two options: wait until they are found and killed or walk across the mountains into a neighboring country and apply for "Priority 2” visas. In that case, they would need money for transportation as well as for food and shelter during the (possibly one-year) waiting period for getting the visas. Walking the shortest distance over the mountains would take them at least four days. That would be tough for the senior parents, so Fahim is searching for mules and other means of transportation.

<div>Can you imagine how it would feel to lose your home country and never see your parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, or nephews or nieces again?

<div>Fahim's family doesn’t have much in savings, so they are waiting for Fahim to send them some funds. He is thinking of selling his car, but that wouldn't bring in enough.
</div>

<div>Like the families of other Afghans who worked with the U.S. government, my friend's family are now targets of the Taliban. Would you help me raise funds for my friend so that he can save his family? We may not collect enough to save all of them, but if even one life can be saved, it would mean a lot—says my friend.

<div>Thank you so much for considering.<br /><br /><br />PS: The funds to raise is for10 households. 10 households are Fahim and his spouse's both parents, and Farhim and wife's brothers and sisters' family and children. <br />Food and shelter cost for one year (estimate) while waiting for P2 visa in the third country. <br />P2 visa costs $575 per person. <br />Estimate of one way airline ticket from the third country to the U.S. estimated $1500 per person.  <br />I assure you that 100% of the funds except the GoFundMe service charge, will go to Fahim and his wife, who will wire money directly to their family in Afghanistan to escape. <br /><br /><br />アフガニスタン人の友人の家族を首都カブールから、安全に移動させるため寄付集めています。ご協力お願い致します。<br /><br />8月16日、タリバンがカブールを占領したニュースを見て、私は友人に連絡をしました。彼は、とても悲しい声で、こう言いました。「もう私の国はない。父や母にも、もう兄妹にも会えないだろう。タリバンは必ず、探しにやってくる。私がアメリカ政府で働いたため、私の家族は全員殺されるだろう。」<br /><br />友人と奥さんは、毎日泣いていると、私に言います。子供たちは、友人と奥さんに、一体なぜそんなに悲しんでるの、と不安そうに聞いてくると言います。友人は、まだ小さい子供たちに、今の状況をどの様に伝えたらいいのか、アフガニスタンの現状をほとんど知らずアメリカで育った子供たちに、どう説明するのか。そしておじいちゃんやおばあちゃん、従兄弟、叔父や叔母さんたちとはもう会えないかもしれないことをどう伝えたらいいのか。<br /><br />友人は、カブールで生まれ育ちました。彼が２０代の頃、（現在もあまり変わらない状況なのでしょうが）アフガニスタンでは仕事が選べる環境ではなく、若者達のほとんどは軍に入るそうです。アフガン軍入隊後は、家族を支えるため、アメリカ政府の仕事に就くことになりました。与えられた任務は、アフガニスタン全域を周り、タリバンとその他にタリバンに手を貸す人達を捜査し、捕まえて、刑務所へ入れることでした。たくさんの悪者を刑務所に入れたために、その友人や仲間から脅しがくるようになり、彼の不在中、奥さんと子供の命が危険に晒されたと言います。現に、彼の従兄弟2人はタリバンに殺されました。<br /><br />幸いにもアメリカ政府は彼らに特別なビザをだし、現在はアメリカに在住しています。そのままいれば家族全員が殺されるか、アメリカで生きるかしか他に選択肢はなかったからです。残念ながら、アメリカ政府は、彼と妻と子供達には特別ビザを出し、その他の家族、両親や兄弟などには今のところ特別ビザは出していません。<br /><br />タリバンがカブールを占領してから、友人が捕まえたタリバンやタリバンの仲間になった人たちは刑務所から解放され、自由の身となっています。彼らは、自分たちを刑務所に入れた人達（私の友人）やアメリカ政府のために働いたアフガン人の顔を覚えており、現在探し始めています。本人が見つけられないと、どこにいるか突き止めるために身代わりとしてその家族を必ず殺すと友人は言います。家族がタリバンに捕まる前に、どうにか家族をアフガニスタンから脱出させたいと願っています。もうそれしか方法がないのです。<br /><br />ニュースを見てから何が出来るのか、どうしてあげられるのだろうとずっと考えていました。今、私が出来ることは、資金を集め、その資金を友人がカブールの家族へ送ることです。<br /><br />空路は安全ではないと言います。空港へ到着するまでに、町中にいるタリバンに捕まるだろう。現在は、家族は数人のグループに別れて数カ所で隠れて生活しています。もしタリバンが来て見つかったとしても家族全員が殺されないため、わざと分けてそれぞれ別の場所にいるそうです。<br /><br />友人は２つの選択肢があると言います。ずっとこのままアフガニスタンで、タリバンに見つかるまで隠れながら生活する。それか、国境が開いたら陸路で隣国へ入り、その後難民ビザを申請しアメリカへ入国できるのを待つということです。しかし、後者は約1年ほどかかることが想定されます。それでも、彼は試したいと言っていました。それしか家族を救える方法はないからです。<br /><br />彼の家族全員が移動するためには資金が必要です。陸路で入る費用、隣国で難民ビザが下りるまでの生活費（予想は1年ほど）と、その後の渡米費用。アフガニスタンにいる彼の家族は貯金がなく、私の友人が資金を送るのを待っているというのです。<br /><br />それから、陸路で山越えして隣国へ入る手段は、徒歩で最低でも4−5日はかかり、危険な山脈を超えるそうです。敵がいるかもしれない、オオカミや豹などの野生動物もいると言います。年老いた両親はとても山脈を歩ける状態ではなく、ロバか何か徒歩以外の手段を探しています。<br /><br />日本に住んでいる私たちには、とても想像できない環境です。自分の生まれ育った国が無くなってしまうとか、もう２度と両親や兄弟に会えないかもしれない、など考えられない、まるで映画の世界のようなことが、現に私の友人に起きています。今アフガニスタンではたくさんの人が困っています。たくさんの団体が助けようとしていますが、安全に出国できた、もしくは、救出される人達は本当にごく一部です。<br /><br />私の友人のように、特にアメリカ政府のために働いたアフガン人とその家族らが、今タリバンの１番のターゲットです。<br /><br />友人の家族を救うためにどうかご協力をお願い致します。全員の家族は救えないかもしれません。しかし、友人にとっては、家族の中の1人でも生き延びれることが価値のあることだと言っています。<br /><br />そして世界が平和でありますように。いつかアフガニスタンに平和が訪れますように。<br /><br /><br />
