<div> English:<strong> He Survived More Than 20 Hours Beneath the Rubble. Now We Need Your Help to Rebuild My Father's Life.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There are nights that divide your life forever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The life before.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And the life after.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The night of the earthquake in Venezuela became one of those nights for our family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father, <strong>Pedro Rafael Cordido De Martini</strong> lived alone in La Guaira on the second floor of a small apartment building.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The moment the earthquake struck, we tried calling him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No answer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We called again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nothing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our WhatsApp messages wouldn't go through. The phone network had disappeared. There was no internet. There was no way to know what was happening.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At first, we convinced ourselves it was only a communications outage.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A few hours later, we realized the silence meant something far worse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>La Guaira had become one of the areas hardest hit by the earthquake.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The fear we felt is impossible to put into words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Soon afterward, a family member managed to reach the disaster area and began sending us photos and videos.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will never forget opening those images.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The building where my father lived had collapsed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The floors where his apartment once stood had vanished beneath tons of concrete.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The place he had called home for years had become nothing more than a mountain of rubble.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We stared at those images without saying a word.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It felt as though something inside us had collapsed with that building.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That was the beginning of the longest night of our lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For more than eighteen hours we couldn't take our eyes off our phones.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We waited for something as small as two gray check marks on WhatsApp.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Two tiny marks that would mean my father had found a signal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That he had made it out.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That he was still alive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But those two little check marks never appeared.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While we waited, we reported him missing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We shared his photo everywhere.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We searched every hospital list of injured survivors.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We looked for his name.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We watched countless videos posted on social media, hoping to recognize him somewhere in the crowd.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every minute felt endless.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every hour made hope a little harder to hold onto.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the videos being shared online, we could see there were still no rescue teams at the site.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then, after more than twenty hours, a message arrived from an unknown number.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It was a photograph.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father was lying on a makeshift hospital bed, wearing a neck brace.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Beneath the photo was a message our family will never forget.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>*"Hello. Mr. Pedro is here at the hospital. He is alone and told me you are his daughter. I'm the nurse who received him. He had been trapped beneath the rubble until just a little while ago. They finally found him."*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In a single moment, overwhelming fear turned into an emotion impossible to describe.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But we still didn't know the full story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As the hours passed, videos of the rescue began to appear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Only then did we understand the miracle that had taken place.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father had spent more than twenty hours trapped beneath the remains of the building where he lived.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He couldn't move.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His body was locked in a fetal position because the tiny space surrounding him was barely enough to keep him alive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Massive concrete structures pressed down around him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There was no light.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Only darkness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Only unbearable heat.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Only silence.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As the hours passed, the air became thinner.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every breath was harder than the one before.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Later my father told us that he truly believed he would not survive the night.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then, as darkness began to fall once again, he heard voices.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A group of young volunteers had traveled from Caracas to help search for survivors.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They heard him calling.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One of them shouted,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>*"Don Pedro! We came from Caracas. God brought us here to rescue you!"*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With almost no strength left, my father answered,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>*"I didn't think I was going to make it through this night."*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Those young men had no heavy machinery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No specialized equipment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Only their hands.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Their strength.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Their courage.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And an unbreakable determination to save one more life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Stone by stone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Patiently.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hope carried in every movement.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With a humanity we will never be able to thank enough.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Against every expectation, they pulled my father out alive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today we know that miracles sometimes wear hard hats, dusty gloves, and exhausted hands.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To every volunteer, rescuer, doctor, nurse, neighbor, and stranger who refused to give up...
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for giving us our father back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for giving our family a second chance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today we can hear his voice again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We can hug him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We can tell him how much we love him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But surviving was only the beginning.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father lost absolutely everything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His home was reduced to rubble.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His belongings, his memories, his clothes, and everything he had spent a lifetime building disappeared beneath the debris.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The more than twenty hours he spent trapped under the concrete, combined with the extreme heat and severe dehydration, caused serious kidney complications. He now faces ongoing medical treatment, medications, specialized testing, and what will likely be a long road to recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today we come to you with open hearts.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We want to help my father begin again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your generosity will help cover:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Medical treatment, medications, specialist appointments, and his recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Temporary housing while he finds a safe place to live.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Clothing, personal belongings, and the basic necessities he lost beneath the rubble.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• The gradual rebuilding of a safe home where he can recover, heal, and begin a new chapter of his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know that no amount of money can erase what happened.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But we also know that compassion has the power to transform tragedy into hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My father is alive today because strangers chose to help someone they had never met.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, we ask you to become part of that same miracle.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No donation is too small.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution brings him one step closer to rebuilding his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And if you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign can be just as meaningful.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family will never forget the prayers, the messages, the kindness, and the love we have received during these unimaginable days.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for believing that even after everything has been buried beneath the rubble...
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>hope can still rise again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With all our hearts,
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Una vida antes.
</div>
<div>Y otra después.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No contestó.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Volvimos a llamar.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nada.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Los mensajes de WhatsApp no salían. La señal telefónica había desaparecido. No había internet. No había manera de saber qué estaba pasando.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jamás olvidaré ese momento.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>El edificio donde vivía mi padre había colapsado.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Pero esas dos rayitas nunca aparecieron.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mientras esperábamos, lo reportamos como desaparecido.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Buscamos su nombre entre los sobrevivientes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Cada minuto parecía una eternidad.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Era una fotografía.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>*"Hola, buenas noches. El señor Pedro se encuentra en el hospital. Está solo y me dijo que usted es su hija. Soy la enfermera que lo recibió. Estuvo bajo los escombros hasta hace un rato. Por fin lograron encontrarlo."*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Pero todavía no conocíamos toda la historia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No podía moverse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No había luz.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Solo oscuridad.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Solo calor.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Solo silencio.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ellos escucharon sus llamados.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Entonces uno de ellos gritó:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>*"¡Don Pedro! Venimos de Caracas. Dios nos trajo hasta aquí para rescatarlo."*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Aquellos muchachos no tenían maquinaria pesada.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No tenían grandes equipos.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Solo tenían sus manos.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Su fuerza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Su valentía.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Piedra tras piedra.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Con paciencia.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Con esperanza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gracias.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gracias por devolvernos a nuestro padre.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gracias por regalarnos una segunda oportunidad.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hoy podemos volver a escuchar su voz.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Podemos abrazarlo.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Podemos decirle cuánto lo amamos.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Pero sobrevivir fue apenas el comienzo.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mi padre lo perdió absolutamente todo.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Su hogar quedó reducido a escombros.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Queremos ayudar a mi padre a volver a empezar.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Los fondos recaudados serán destinados a cubrir:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Su tratamiento médico, medicamentos, controles especializados y recuperación.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Con todo nuestro corazón,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
