My husband Tommy and I are in urgent need of assistance in moving our family of four out of our current living situation. We have two wonderful children, a teenage boy a daughter enrolled in medical school. They work hard, achieving high honors and earning awards, and are very patient and supportive.
If you live in Massachusetts, you may have seen on the news this past week that my husband, Tommy, was shot by a stray bullet while sitting in our living room, watching television. The victim of the regular gang shoot-outs that occur in our neighborhood , the bullet came through the wall and lodged in his neck, directly on the spine.
We have lived and raised our children in New Bedford for the past decade, however, had no choice but to move to our current neighborhood one year ago, after both myself and Tommy were diagnosed with cancer. Between the cost that our treatments required and the allowance of our disability vouchers, we found that it was all we could afford.
We have recently learned that we are now permitted to move out of New Bedford on our vouchers, due to the medical treatment we require, and are desperate to do so as soon as possible.
I am humbly asking for help affording both first and last down payments toward a new space in a new town. We currently live in a 3-bedroom apartment, and have always been respectful, quiet tenants. We have a clean and timely tenant record.
I am also seeking assistance with related moving costs. Both Tommy and I are restricted in our mobility due to our illnesses; due to breast surgery, I am unable to move heavy items, and Tommy's broken neck bones due to the shooting will mean he has a long road ahead.
My children are not safe, and I almost lost my husband over a senseless gang war. I will do whatever it takes to keep my family safe, but we need a helping hand. God bless you and thank you for considering our cause with all my heart.
