<div>On September 5th, my parents’ home was lost in a blazing fire. By the grace of God, they made it out safely along with my sisters and nephews just in the nick of time, they stood helpless as they watched years of labor going into smoke. All was lost to the inferno but the clothes on their back.

<div>We didn’t just lose a house but a generational home, an heirloom, that has sheltered 4 generations; and where countless memories were made including the wedding of my parents 37 years ago.

<div>My parents are active members of their community and make an impact on anyone they encounter. My mom Nashelle is always preparing meals to feed anyone that is in need and has provided for many children in her home. She also volunteers at the local food pantry to serve whoever is in need.  My dad Taharka is known around the community, he has run countless programs to empower the youth and to promote cultural awareness. He is the most selfless man I know, always putting others’ needs before his own. My oldest sister Nneka is left to figure out how to build back for herself and my nephews Izaiah, 12 and Jeremiah, 11. My younger sister Jamila started and ran her business Mila Sweet Treats out of our home and is now left to reestablish her business and her livelihood.

<div>My family is left bare and helpless by this tragedy. Through this GoFundMe, we are open to the kindness and humanity of family, friends and strangers to help us raise some funds to help rebuild their lives.
