<div>My name is Christopher, and I am Blas's son. On November 6th, my dad experienced a life-changing tragedy when he was brutally attacked while pumping air in his tires just down the street from his home in Basking Ridge. A 15-year-old escapee from Bonnie Brae attempted to steal my dad's car, using lethal force in the process. The attack left him severely injured, lying under another car, fighting for his life.

<div>My dad suffered 10 broken ribs, a broken ankle, 18 deep flesh wounds, severe facial scars, a deformed dominant hand, the loss of a tooth, several chipped teeth, and countless other injuries. He also lost all the flesh on the upper part of his face. For over two months, he was hospitalized, unable to walk or use his dominant hand.

<div>Now recovering at home with the help of a stay-in nurse, my dad still faces significant challenges. He has limited mobility, permanent facial scarring, and remains unable to use his dominant hand—preventing him from returning to work, if ever. As a result, he is behind on income and struggling to cover basic living expenses.

<div>As his son and sole caregiver, I’ve been working tirelessly to support him in every way I can. I’ve been helping him set up medical care, organizing his legal matters, checking on his well-being daily, and managing the many logistics that come with such a life-altering situation. It has been an overwhelming responsibility, but I am doing everything I can to help him rebuild his life.

<div>Mi nombre es Christopher y soy el hijo de Blas. El 6 de noviembre, mi padre sufrió una tragedia que cambió su vida cuando fue brutalmente atacado mientras inflaba las llantas de su auto a pocos pasos de su casa en Basking Ridge. Un joven de 15 años que se había escapado de Bonnie Brae intentó robar el auto de mi papá, utilizando fuerza letal en el proceso. El ataque lo dejó gravemente herido, tendido debajo de otro auto, luchando por su vida.

<div>Mi papá sufrió 10 costillas rotas, un tobillo fracturado, 18 heridas profundas, cicatrices severas en el rostro, una deformación en su mano dominante, la pérdida de un diente, varios dientes astillados y un sinfín de otras lesiones. También perdió toda la piel de la parte superior de su rostro. Estuvo hospitalizado por más de dos meses, sin poder caminar ni usar su mano dominante.

<div>Ahora, recuperándose en casa con la ayuda de una enfermera residente, mi papá todavía enfrenta grandes desafíos. Tiene movilidad limitada, cicatrices permanentes en el rostro y sigue sin poder usar su mano dominante, lo que le impide regresar al trabajo, si es que alguna vez puede hacerlo. Como resultado, está atrasado en sus ingresos y lucha por cubrir los gastos básicos de subsistencia.
