<div>My dad, Fernando Esquerre Sr., has always been an example of resilience and strength. After surviving a major heart attack many years ago, he chose not to let illness define him. Instead, he became a disciplined runner, completing countless half marathons. In 2016, I had the privilege of pacing him through his one and only Disney Marathon, a memory that I will always carry with me. Together we have traveled, shared adventures, and created moments that shaped our family in unforgettable ways.

<div>What truly keeps him going are his four grandchildren, who are his greatest joy and motivation. His recently born grandson, my son, has given him a brand new reason to keep fighting. He dreams of holding him, watching him grow, and creating the same kind of special memories he already shares with his other three grandchildren. With the right treatment, he will have the chance to see this little boy smile, laugh, and take his first steps.

<div>My dad has been recently diagnosed with advancing coronary heart disease, and his doctors are recommending a cardiac catheterization to help manage his condition and keep him healthy and active. The procedure costs around $6,000, which is impossible to cover in Venezuela, where a retired doctor with more than 45 years of service receives only about $13 a month in pension. My family around the world is contributing as much as we can, but we need extra help to make this happen.

<div>Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to giving my dad more healthy time with his loved ones and the chance to be present in his youngest grandson’s life. Sharing this story is also a meaningful way to support him.

En lugar de eso, se convirtió en un corredor disciplinado, completando innumerables medias maratones. En 2016 tuve el privilegio de acompañarlo como pacer en la Maratón de Disney, un recuerdo que siempre llevaré conmigo. Juntos hemos viajado, compartido aventuras y creado momentos que han marcado a nuestra familia de maneras inolvidables.

Con el tratamiento adecuado, tendrá la oportunidad de ver a su nuevo nieto sonreír, reír y dar sus primeros pasos.
