Mia is a ragdoll-cross who came to us five years ago as a foster cat and... um... never left. She's about to turn 13 but is fluffy, feisty and wonderful as when she first arrived, and I hope she has at least a few years left.
A couple of days ago, she went missing and when she turned back up, she was limping badly, with her back leg at a disturbing angle. We took her to the vet yesterday and it appears she has a badly broken leg. Amputation looks likely but that will involve major surgery, an overnight stay at the vet's, and antibiotics/painkillers for several days afterwards.
We brought her home and she has been hobbling around and complaining about the food, just like she usually does. We considered putting her to sleep but she's so *alive* and still seems to have so much fight left, it strikes me as tragic to cut her life short if we don't have to.
That's where we need some help. We're on a limited income and can't afford the $2000 it will cost to pay for the operation and after-surgical care. The surgery needs to happen this week so she has the best chance of avoiding infection. I wouldn't ask for your help, but for the fact that we've already had to put our old dog down last year, and it feels very sad to lose another beloved family member so soon.
Thanks for anything you can give. I'll post picture updates of Mia soon <3
