<div>Hello, I am Heba Alturk and am reaching out to you from Gaza. It has been more than a year since I was forced to leave my home, at 8 months pregnant, with my husband, Mohammad Elshikdeeb. We found ourselves displaced only weeks before our son Ziad was born in November of 2023. We have lived the last 12 months under conditions of great uncertainty and sacrifice. I continue to seek and share joy each day through my art, design creations, and watching my son grow.

<div>Before the war, I was a recent graduate from university looking forward to starting my own design business. My husband, Mohammad, worked as an accountant. We were happy and awaiting the arrival of our first-born child. Sadly, I have marked the milestones of the first year of my son’s life with hardship. With the start of war, work was impossible and we have had to use all of our savings to provide for our young family. Due to blockades at the borders, we continue to face shortages of food, clean water, and hygiene supplies. The cost of these necessities continues to rise and we seek your generosity to help us pay for our daily needs, evacuate the war zone and start a new life.

<div>Our total goal is to raise $45,000 CAD and this is how the funds will be used:

<div>Our monthly expenses are currently $1,200 CAD and your donations allow us to maintain our most basic needs until the borders open and we can evacuate Gaza.

<div>We need $17,500 CAD for the evacuation of our family.

<div>We need $4,500 CAD initially to secure a place to live. When the borders open we plan to first travel to Egypt where your donations will help us find shelter and continue to provide for our basic needs while we find a more permanent home.
