Help my brother start his life right after prison

Donation protected
Request for help for my Brother who is due to be released from prison in less than 30 days to start his life  anew.

This picture is of myself and my older brother Daniel when we were mere babies. He was a kind kid with a good heart. However, growing up in a house full of abuse and neglect with an alcoholic father that drove him to drinking heavily himself by the age of a young teen, has left him living a life full of poverty and of deep dark alcoholism and hopelessness that resulted with him being jailed multiple times throughout his teen and adult life over DUI's (always alcohol related charges only). This time when he entered the system his system was so poisoned by alcohol he was in their ICU for his first few months of time just to get him detoxed and stabilized. Heartbreaking and so scary!

Every time he would go in to jail or prison he would come out with HOPE to do better and life would just kick him while he was down so low, that he would just give up and go back to drinking every time.

But this time feels so very different! He is about to  finish a five year sentence and will be released at the end of the month having fully served time (so no parole!) and he is full of SOBER  MINDED HOPE!

He is FIVE YEARS SOBER now for the first time  of this duration since he was 14 years old and has a completely different outlook on life!

He is READY to STAY sober, to educate himself so he can get out of the minimum wage rut in life and do whatever he must to get there and be a better person all around. I am so incredibly PROUD of him for even SPEAKING with such hope, because he never had done that in the past to this degree of devotion.  I want to help him in whatever way I can to make sure he has enough money to get settled safely, and to get him started on the right foot, but I struggle myself to pay my own bills and can't possibly get him all the help he needs alone.

He is 54 years old now (soon to be 55) and will be released from prison at the end of this month (November 2020)  with absolutely nothing.  He must start all over with the basics in clothing and supplies and find a place to rent, and get utilities on in his name  (assuming that's even possible as he has no credit history, having always managed life by paying cash).

He will need funds to Rent somewhere, to get utilities on, to buy food and basic home needs and to have time to seek employment to secure himself better. He so deserves this chance more than ever because for the first time in more years than I can recall he WANTS to do better and is believing in himself!

He has very bad foot neuropathy from having had untreated diabetes for years that caused his feet to be in serious bad shape so orthopedics of any sort would be an added blessing since he hopes to start a new career doing welding and that will have him on his feet all the time. This is essential to get him some solid orthopedic shoes to walk with daily and steel toed boots for work.  He really needs medical attention for this as well if you ask me.

He is praying he can somehow manage to get a school loan/grant or some sort of sponsorship or assistance of some sort to attend a welding school certification program in Nevada Mo that costs 15,000 for the program, however, He has no idea if he can accomplish this given his long life of having no credit at all or bad credit (far past), but if he can get funding assistance he fully intends to see it through. This is his dream. I just want to help him get there!

Depending on where he lands, whether school in Nevada or an apartment in Kansas City, MO. which is closest large City to where he will be released, he will be in need of household everything. He lost it all while he was imprisoned.

He will have enough life obstacles to overcome just trying to be gainfully employed out there as a felon and during these COVID times that having to struggle for clothing and housing and basic needs just seems an unfair challenge if it can be avoided.

I have several people offering clothing already so I think we will have that covered for him.

But if anyone can help offer solid direction to get him into welding school, or help him locate a funding source for welding school or help with financial assistance to help him secure housing etc I would be so very grateful.

My greatest fear is that he gets out into this COVID challenged world and just finds one obstacle after another right away causing that sense of defeat that will drive him right back to his old ways of life and I just want to prevent that if it is even remotely preventable through loving care and just a small hand up to start on.

Even just Prayers and positive wishes for him sent to the heavens ears can make a difference!

I believe in him... I really do. I just want him to have a chance to prove to himself he IS worthy of being loved and he IS worthy of being better even to his own self...and most importantly at this time in his life he IS WORTHY of being given a hand up to help. Lord knows he has never really had that in his life.

Sincerely,
Diana Alley
