<div>I'm reaching out with a heavy heart and hopeful spirit to ask for your help. My brother has battled severe Crohn’s Disease for all of his life. After years of unexplained hospital visits, and misdiagnoses, he finally received an official diagnosis at just 13 years old. Since then, our lives have been consumed by hospital stays, emergency surgeries, and complications that no young person should ever have to endure.

<div>By 15, he had his first colostomy bag. He spent 2 years straight in hospital without a single day of home leave. He’s been in and out of hospital ever since — never getting a real chance to live the carefree life most people his age enjoy.

<div>In 2022, a major operation through the NHS went horribly wrong. Due to negligence, he was left vomiting all night with a twisted bowel, ignored by staff, and eventually ended up in ICU when the contents of his stomach entered the wrong pipe. He nearly lost his life — twice — during that period. Over the next year, he endured four surgeries, including one that left him with a dangerously high-output colostomy bag. Again, doctors didn’t notice for over two weeks that something was wrong, while he lost weight rapidly and couldn’t absorb food or water.

<div>It turned out the colostomy had been placed too high. His body couldn’t function — he was kept alive through TPN (total parenteral nutrition), and now survives on daily IV fluids through a Hickman line, which he manages himself as well as taking 15+ medications daily.

<div>Despite trying nearly every Crohn’s medication available and pushing through unimaginable pain, he’s still not stable. The NHS has done what it can — but we are now out of options. t’s just me, my mum, and my brother now — we lost our dad in 2020, and life hasn’t been the same since. My mum has been a tireless carer and advocate for my brother while managing everything alone. We’re physically and emotionally exhausted, but we’re not giving up.

<div>We’re turning to private care because we believe he deserves a chance. A chance to feel well, to have a normal day, to eat without fear, to enjoy life outside of hospital walls. He is still so young, and has missed out on so much. We’re desperate to give him that chance before it’s too late.
