Let me wind back the clock a little bit. My name is Jordan and my best friend is Michala, and ever since Michala was a little girl she always loved the Toyota Celica. She thought it looked like a Batmobile, and always dreamed of owning this car. Fast forward a few years when she and I became friends, being a car person I asked her about a dream car. She recalled the look-a-like Batmobile and said it would probably never become a reality. The determined little shit that I am, I told her that it isn't that expensive, I told her the trim levels, the engine types, and all sorts. That childlike dream was sparked once more, and the hunt began. Saving up for five years, getting her license, and a lot of searching we found her a 2003 Celica GTS with a 6-Speed manual transmission.
I taught her manual on this car, I encouraged every dream and idea she had for her Batmobile. She went from thinking it distant dream to a reality, and I couldn't be more proud of her... Fast forward again to 9/24/2021, when a Subaru Outback cut in front of us trying to beat head on traffic. Michala slammed on her brakes, didn't swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting other cars, and the passanger side was slammed. Stumbling out of the car, Michala and I were nearly unscathed. Bruises for her, a sprained ankle for me. I do not believe in luck, it was her driving skill that saved us. While Michala was in shock, I pushed the car as far off the road as possible and examined the damage.
The radiator had been pierced, the wheel was jammed by the fender dented in, the light shattered in thousands of fractals. The Doctors said if not for Michala's braking, we would have hit head on at 45MPH and could have been fatal. I owe her my life, and we owe our lives to this car. Despite everyone saying to get a new one, she is refusing. This is the car she learned on, she fought for, crawled over broken plastic and metal for. The pandemic hit everyone hard, and our funds are both low. The goal of $10,000 is high, I won't deny. The goal would be enough to fix her up, restore her, and get her to the Batmobile she is meant to be. This car will not die, not on my watch.
I will be fight tooth and nail to keep this car away from the scrapper and in the hands of my best friend. Please help save this beautiful peace of machinery, this car is a life saver.
