<div>Recently, she endured a horrific act of domestic violence by my uncle (who is now in jail) that nearly cost her life. He brutally assaulted her by splashing boiling water on her, striking her head with a hammer, and biting her fingers when she tried to defend herself. She sustained severe injuries to her head, face, hands, ear, and chest. She was taken to the hospital and admitted to the ICU, where she underwent facial reconstructive surgery.

<div>We are very grateful she survived, but her recovery will not be easy. My aunt now faces many challenges. Because of her injuries, she is unable to work, even though she is the sole provider for her household. She has three sons, but Jaden (14) and Erik (7) still depend on her every day. Along with everyday living expenses and bills, she will also need physical therapy and ongoing medical care to recover. Since she does not speak English fluently, navigating hospital visits, legal matters, and social services will be especially difficult.

<div>Gần đây, dì tôi đã trở thành nạn nhân của sự bạo lực gia đình vô cùng tàn bạo do chồng cô, và cũng là chú ruột của tôi, gây ra. Chú đã tạt nước sôi lên người dì, dùng búa đánh vào đầu và cắn tay khi dì cố gắng chống cự. Mặc dù chú đã bị bắt giam, dì của tôi bị thương nghiêm trọng ở đầu, mặt, tay, tai và ngực. Dì đã được đưa vào bệnh viện và điều trị tại khoa cấp cứu hồi sức tích cực (ICU), nơi dì phải trải qua ca phẫu thuật tái tạo lại khuôn mặt.

<div>Chúng tôi rất mừng vì dì đã vược qua được sự tàn bạo của chú, nhưng con đường phục hồi phía trước sẽ vô cùng khó khăn cho dì và gia đình. <div>Ngoài các chi phí sinh hoạt và chi phí sống cố định hằng tháng, dì tôi sẽ cần lo tới chi phí điều trị và viện phí chăm sóc y tế lâu dài để phục hồi. Dì cũng gặp khó khăn trong việc giao tiếp vì không thông thạo tiếng Anh, điều này khiến việc đi bệnh viện, xử lý các vấn đề pháp lý và các dịch vụ hỗ trợ càng thêm phức tạp.
