Support my aunt's high medical costs in Venezuela

Dear friends and warm-hearted readers, 

My dear Godmother, Marina (71 years old) is a retired Bioanalysis professor as well as the former Director of the Bioanalysis school at the Medical faculty of the Central University in Venezuela in Caracas. She raised 3 sons, is a grandmother to 6 children, a sister to 8 siblings and an aunt to a bunch of us. She became a widow around 13 years ago and that is when this photo of her in the Keukenhof was taken. She came, together with my parents, to visit me in Amsterdam to clear her mind and began the healing of her heart. 

Unfortunately, she was taken to the hospital  1 month ago with a case of pneumonia.  Due to the symptoms, she needed to be tested for Covid 19 as well. She was not tested until after she was already connected to a respirator in the ICU. The test result was positive for Covid 19. (photo added of the diagnosis) 

I am from Venezuela and most of my family still lives there. The situation in the country is dire. Access to basic services like food, water, electricity, and medicine is scarce due to years of destruction of the economical systems in the country. Public (government-run) hospitals are totally destroyed and lack resources even for medical personnel. Luckily my aunt has an insurance policy that covered the first two weeks of treatment in a private clinic and even though the insurance covered 50,000 US$, it already ran out. 

I am asking, in the name of my cousins; Chemin, Frache, and Juanjo, for your help in raising some funds so we can keep providing the care that my aunt needs and deserve in Caracas, Venezuela. 

This pandemic is causing emotional distress in all of us. I hope you can help us so it doesn't turn into a financial one as well. Very much appreciated! 

By the way, if by any chance, there are funds leftover, we will donate them to a Venezuelan charity helping people in need.

Mi querida madrina, Marina (71 años) es una profesora de Bioanalisis retirada y (ex)directora de la escuela de Bioanálisis de la Facultad de Medicina en la UCV. Ella crió a 3 hijos, ¡tiene 6 nietos, 8 hermanos y muchísimos sobrinos! Cuando enviudó, hace como 13 años, ella viajó a Amsterdam junto a mis padres para aclarar su mente y empezar a sanar su corazón. Esta foto fue tomada durante esa visita.

Desafortunadamente, mi tía fue ingresada a la clínica con una neumonía. Debido a los síntomas también tuvo que tomar la prueba del COVID-19. El diagnostico fue confirmado cuando ya ella estaba en terapia intensiva conectada a un respirador. 

Como todos los venezolanos saben, la situación en el país sigue siendo crítica y se agrava con los efectos de la pandemia. Gracias a Dios, mi tía tiene un seguro que le cubre US$ 50,000 sin embargo ya este monto se ha agotado después de 1 mes de tratamiento en la clínica. 

Estoy haciendo esta campaña en nombre de mis primos, Chemin, Frache y Juanjo, para ayudar a cubrir gastos adicionales en la recuperación y el cuidado que mi querida tía se merece. Ella sigue en terapia y tenemos fe que se recuperará pronto pero no sabemos cuanto tiempo mas estará en la clínica.

Esta pandemia ha causado muchos problemas a nivel mundial y es un peso muy grande a nivel emocional. Ayúdennos a que el peso no se haga financiero también. ¡Un abrazo y muchas gracias de antemano!
